Even though I have a 360, I support half of what Sony is doing. If you really want to have a discussion about which console is better and why. Then have that conversation, don't just do point and counterpoint.

Wow, OP what a great unbiased, comprehensive counterpoint for each of the points.

Wow, guy, what a great way to add substance to this thread.

Pot, Kettle, Black?

Anyways, I still think it is too early to tell... in fact, I think it is stupid for fanboys to make stupid assumptions this early.

Maybe it isn't fanboys. Maybe it is someone that wants to invest in the next generation of consoles and wants to make the right choice.

Whoa, the OP is just a load of crap. (Pun intended!)

Those were overall pretty lame reasons as to why the PS3 will win, and even worse reasons why it won't.

For as much hatred as it was getting, I'm suprised Blu-Ray and the PS3 did this well so far. A few of those points were valid, but still not enough to determine a sure winner. I honeslty don't know who is gonna win this time around, but it'll take more than 5 months after release to tell.

Do you understand the difference between someone stating opinion or someone just posting a link to an article? Obviously not so stay out of the thread you damn n00b!

Eh, your points are rather weak, and sound extremely biased.

You can say whatever you want about my opinions but you never stated yours so you already lost your credibility about the article at hand.

I just am stating that how do these ten statements make the Ps3 win the console wars when they are not even exclusive features on the system?

Yea and look how well American Idol does, how many worthless people there are in this country who watch it. Look how well McDonald's food sells.

Mass appeal? WhoTF cares? I sure as hell don't care that since everyone else likes it maybe I should. Personally I think number 7 is spot on, the Wii is a gimmick and its appeal will soon fade just like many things do in our culture.

That doesn't mean I think the PS3 will win, I honestly could care less about anything next gen until Mass Effect comes out, or FF XIII with some other games on the PS3. Until then I'll enjoy my PS2 just fine. Rogue Galaxy, FF XII, GoW2 - there are more good games STILL coming on the PS2 then for all of the next gen systems combined.

They removed all sense of speed in order to get those visuals. I prefer how NFSMW plays better, but they are on opposite ends of the racing spectrum. I got bored of the MotorStorm demo pretty quick.

I was just in Best Buy the other day and played MotorStorm. Looked pretty good, but if that's all there is to the game, it would definately get old quick. Plus, from what I saw, it has some serious framerate issues.

you are ignorant to compare the console business to fast food business or even a tv show business.

look at it from this perspective ...

you have A console with 100 million units out there and it's easy to develop for (low development costs).
you have B console with 50 million units out there and it's easy to develop for (low development costs).
you have C console with 10 million units out there and it's a chore to develop for (high development costs.

Now which one of those systems would probably be the most lucrative system for a developer to make a game for? A system that is eas to develop for and has 10x more units out there, which is 10x more potential customers, or a system with 10x less customers and costs more to develop for?

The answer is simple. And granted those #'s are very very exaggerated, it was just to get the point accross.

As much as people think the Wii is a fad, it's selling way better than any console at the current time, and if that continues, many MANY developers will jump on board because that's how they will make the most money.

Mass Appeal = more money, it's as simple as that, and developers are in this business for one reason, the same reason anyone is in business, to make money.

The same argument was made for the PS2 "OHHHH its too hard to program for." Not to mention that same argument was made many times on the 360, it just has the advantage since its been out for much longer and people have made strides in figuring out how to code for it.

I am speaking from my own perspective, and you can think its ignorant or not I could give a fvck less. American's are all a bunch of sheep for the most part, people follow fads and thats what the Wii is. Elmo, and a gazillion other TOY examples that are perfectly viable comparissons to the Wii could have made my argument better but IMO American Idol is the primest example of a stupid Fad. Wrong or right, time will prove me to be one or the other. We'll see this time next year how great the Wii is still selling and how many games were released for it that appeal on a level like GoW or FF games do. The only good games to come out on the Wii, or that WILL come out on the Wii for the next year are all 1st party Nintendo titles so this whole argument is completely off base IMO any way. The third party titles coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 are much, much better. Why should someone want to make a game that the graphics suck on. There are many many developers that have said just that, the new Unreal game as one example.

There isn't a single game coming on the Wii that looks at all very appealing to me, so to each there own. As I said, time will tell but I believe the Wii selling so well will fade. 4 months isn't a lot of time to write off the PS3 or to say the Wii is the best and already won. Granted, there isn't a single game on the PS3 yet thats even worth a damn to me either, but there isn't any game on the Xbox 360 thats worth anything so even though I'm a huge gamer I have yet to get a next gen system. Also, nearly everyone I know (and I know a lot of gamers) are onboard with me and are doing just fine with their PS2 and their DS right now. They will bide there time and then there will be a huge influx of buyers for the PS3 or the 360, FF XIII and Mass Effect may see such an influx.

Time will tell.

I dont understand why people think the Wii is a fad. Because its different?

Fads are based on style - a certain type of shoes, a certain type of hairstyle, a certain movie etc. They just go out of style, and a new fad replaces it, not because its better, but because it's different.

People don't buy games because theyre different. People buy games because theyre fun. As soon as the Wii stops being fun, people will stop buying it. But thats dependent on the games that come out for it. Wii Sports may be a fad. But the Wii itself isnt.

When I was talking about American Idol and McDonald's I was talking about MASS APPEAL, not about either one being a FAD. It was supposed to address how utterly poor America's taste's are, and namely that just because the majority of people like it doesn't make it good. McDonalds being the worst food on the planet, and American Idol being the worst show. American Idol is actually doing much worse on ratings this year, give it another 2 years or so and it will be gone (hopefully)

Perhaps, perhaps not. We'll see. The Wii is definetely a gimick, once again this is an opinion.

You guys are really retarded. It is my opinion (once again) remember what an opinion is? that the Wii is a gimmick. Just because everyone else said the DS was a gimmick (I don't remember reading that personally) doesn't mean I felt that way. I bought one because it has a ton of good games, games that are good for plain rides and the like. The Wii's games are good in their own right too (party games and all that) but personally, I don't invite a lot of friends over and play video games. I go out when I want to hang out with a bunch of people, when I spend time by myself I play video games. Thats just me, I don't expect the whole world to agree, nor do I care. However, I do believe that more and more people will realize that the Wii is only good for that one thing and sales will fall off very soon. Again, thats my opinion.

You act as if the fact that you are merely giving your opinion shields you from disagreement. Its a discussion for crying out loud. If all you have to say is "it's just my opinion" in response rather than responding with something meaningful, you might as well not bother replying, because all you're going to get is ANYONES opinion.

That being said, my opinion is that youre right about it being a "gimmick", but wrong about it being a "fad".

The dpad was a gimmick. Rumble was a gimmick. The analog stick was a gimmick. Wireless controllers. The mouse. HD and surround sound. Hell, even the entire idea of a home console was a gimmick. Those have all surely stuck around, because theyre damn good gimmicks.

You might not be enjoying the Wii, but I've personally never met a single person who's actually played it and not loved it. I do know quite a few people who have the exact same opinion as you, and there is one single thread that ties them all together - they havent played it.

The Wii hasnt succeeded based upon marketing. It's reached a tipping point through word of mouth, because its that damn fun. Since the Wii came out, I've had a bunch of friends who've long stopped playing video games come over, and nearly every one of them left determined to get a Wii (those that could find it) after about 10 minutes.

I love good gfx as much as the next guy, but unless I have no choice, Id rather never use a dpad to play another sports, fps, rts or well, pretty much any other game that could be done better with a wiimote. You owe it to yourself to give it a try before so harshly criticizing it, because it really is something you have to play for yourself to understand how massive a difference it is.

See, everyone makes assumptions about what games will come out for the Wii, and they use that to dismiss the Wii. Give it time! With the Wii's enormous popularity, third party developers are devoting a lot of effort to it. Nintendo is encouraging more mature games this time. If the Wii continues to sell well, I'd count on seeing GTA games on it.
