See, everyone makes assumptions about what games will come out for the Wii, and they use that to dismiss the Wii. Give it time! With the Wii's enormous popularity, third party developers are devoting a lot of effort to it. Nintendo is encouraging more mature games this time. If the Wii continues to sell well, I'd count on seeing GTA games on it.

Godfather for the Wii is pretty much GTA, and its already out. GTA was fun, but when you are literally shoving someone around, beating their face, strangling someone etc with the Wiimote, it is really that much more fun. One of my friends picked it up and can't stop talking about it, its like all his dreams have come true from being able to smash a cops face in for not accepting a bribe.

The dpad was a gimmick. Rumble was a gimmick. The analog stick was a gimmick. Wireless controllers. The mouse. HD and surround sound. Hell, even the entire idea of a home console was a gimmick. Those have all surely stuck around, because theyre damn good gimmicks.

You might not be enjoying the Wii, but I've personally never met a single person who's actually played it and not loved it. I do know quite a few people who have the exact same opinion as you, and there is one single thread that ties them all together - they havent played it.

The Wii hasnt succeeded based upon marketing. It's reached a tipping point through word of mouth, because its that damn fun. Since the Wii came out, I've had a bunch of friends who've long stopped playing video games come over, and nearly every one of them left determined to get a Wii (those that could find it) after about 10 minutes.

I love good gfx as much as the next guy, but unless I have no choice, Id rather never use a dpad to play another sports, fps, rts or well, pretty much any other game that could be done better with a wiimote. You owe it to yourself to give it a try before so harshly criticizing it, because it really is something you have to play for yourself to understand how massive a difference it is.

Aside from the obvious Nintendo titles, we know that Capcom, Konami and other big names are developing for the Wii. That, plus the known first party titles such as Mario Galaxy, SSBB, Super Paper Mario and Metroid Prime... I think the Wii could be my most loved console since the SNES. And that's saying a lot.

So you're saying Wii is just a party system?

Thats what I feel. I don't see any games on it that appeal in any other sense, but for some people maybe they get home from work and play Wii sports for hours. I don't know any of those people but they may be out there

Well see thats partly what I base my opinion on, I know a lot of people who did get one within the first month of its release. And none of those people still play it. At least a couple of them have sold the Wii already and consider it an impulse buy.

You say you've never known anyone who has played it and not loved it. I agree, it was fun I did like it - but I found it fun for a very small amount of time and then got over it. It was something new, and cool and then it lost that new factor and became boring. I think the poor graphics attribute to that partly, but thats just me

I forgot to mention that. But I do believe either the 360 or PS3 will overtake the Wii because of KILLER apps like these, Halo 3, FF XIII, Mass Effect, GoW3 - games you won't find anywhere else and games that people are going to buy a console solely because of it.

I'll concede then that I may not be as well informed as I thought about games coming out for the Wii. Manhunt was ok, I played the first couple on the PS2 - but overall that won't sway me alone. However it could be a start.

As of now the only system I plan on getting (most likely well down the road) is the PS3. Namely because of FF XIII and Heavenly Sword, GoW3, but there are also at least 5 other titles I know are coming out for it that highly interest me

A lot of people are enjoying the Wii. But I guess I am a minority... I ended up selling mine. Zelda was great, but after that... well... nothing really. I consider myself somewhere between a casual and hardcore gamer.

Virtual console didn't appeal to me; I don't want to play $5 - $10 for games that are7+ years old, I didn't pay $250 to play Sim City that came out 15+ years ago. I know other Wiis owned by friends just collecting dust now...

I'm all for the wii kicking the PS3's but, but why is everyone gung ho on changing AMDZen's opinion? He doesn't like the gameset on the Wii...

However, why does a hardcore gamer have to like mature games? What is a "game like GoW?" That's an honest question. All I got out of GoW was a graphically intense (in a good way) FPS. I dunno about the storyline, but let's say it's great. Why is that hardcore? Why wouldn't playing boggle/scrabble every night be "hardcore" too? While we're at it... does "mature" = violent?
