Couple years ago and thanks to your help I made a new built: https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/workstation-quad-channel-1900x-x399-vs-dual-channel-1800x-x370.2517818/#post-39081480
Now for a while I've been playing and ejoying RDR2 with my Samsung Ultrawide (49") @ 5120x1440 @ 120Hz...
Hello dear people of this forum,
I am kinda new to BIOS and all that stuff (former Mac user) and I am looking for an advice. I would like to apply some best settings in Bios for FAN speed vs overclocking my CPU. Currently I am running my CPU at stock settings, default settings in BIOS. My fan...
I am looking to build a 2970wx system and here are the main specs that I have chosen:
ASUS X399E- Gaming (or) Zenith Extreme Alpha
GeForce 2080 Super
I get confused a lot when it comes to RAM speeds and CL timings, quad channel, dual channel configs, etc.
I am looking to put in 64GB of...
So I built a 1950x TR with the intention of it being able to handle pretty much anything I throw at it editing wise. I was having the same freezing issues a while back and someone on another forum said that I was having these issues due to my cpu being undervolted. So I upped it from 1.350v to...
This last week I built three identical builds.
ASRock X399 Taichi sTR4 : 3.30 Bios
G.SKILL Trident Z RGB (For AMD) 32GB F4-3200C14Q-32GTZRX: 3200 14-14-14-34 XMP
EVGA SuperNOVA 1300 G2
SAMSUNG 970 EVO
Dual Nvidia Quadro P1000s in PCIe slots 1 and 4 (the 2 x16 slots)
History of CPU cooling is longride way. From basic coolers to extreme cooling as example LN2. We can remember 20 years ago...Yes, everything looks like stock boxed cooler :) But different was the cooler for AMD Thunderbird CPUs.
Cooling systems were evolved, first home liquid cooling and...
I'm in the process of changing my system, and I'm oriented towards AMD TR systems. The important thing is that the whole system is as quiet as possible, taking into account that the system will be a non-gaming workstation (so I would exclude the possibility of overclocking).
I am looking for a...

I'm trying to get an idea...
According to AMD, Threadripper 2 CPUs support "up to 2tb ram".
However, most of the TR4 motherboards I read the specs of, declare support for "up to 128gb ram".
Are you aware of any TR4 motherboard that will support more than 128gb ram?
If not, has anyone tried to install more than 128gb ram...
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX - $1299 US Processor
AMD's Ryzen Threadripper 2970WX will have 24 cores and 48 threads for $1299. Intel's 12 Core chip costs $1200, that means you are getting double core count in $100 higher price. It has a 3.0 GHz base speed and 4.0 GHz boost speed.
We will be...
Dynamic Local Mode — NUMA-aware optimisation for Threadripper 2990WX and 2970WX coming soon:
"Dynamic Local Mode is a new piece of software that automatically migrates the system’s most demanding application threads onto the [CPU cores] with local memory access. In other words: the apps that...
So I do a lot of 3D work that involves CPU rendering and this little big monster would help me a big deal with my daily tasks.
I don't plan to do extreme OC on this build, but If I could push it a bit without much effort that could be great.
It seems like MSI MEG x399 Creation is a favorite...
Looking at the new generation of HP ZBOOKs having Intel Xeon as an option and Apple's still unannounced new MacBook Pro potentially having Intel i9 as an option, are AMD planning on having Threadripper's in mobile workstations / mobile gaming sometime or even a new mobile processor to compete...
I set out to build my own PC for the first time. I'm a musician/ producer - not a techy. So, I did about as much research as I thought I could, and consulted many forums, YouTubers, and Micro Center employees.
Anyway - I began building my system after getting all the components - but because...
I am trying to buy a system from www.overclockers.co.uk using the Gigabyte GA-X399 GAMING 7 AMD X399 (Socket TR4) ATX Motherboard and I asked them to do 2 Samsung 960 EVO Polaris 1TB M.2 2280 PCI-e 3.0 x4 NVMe in Raid 0 as a bootable drive.
They have just come back to me and said they...
I need to build a workstation (no gaming) system to handle my workload.
Minimum spec I want:
At least 16 cores
3.4Ghz base clock
Support for ECC RAM (32GB or 64GB will be plenty)
Two NVMe drives
Windows 10 Pro
Multiple VMWare instances in memory
Edit: I don't actually need this benchmark anymore.
I am interested how this CPU performs in fractal extreme, which is software that I used to use, to get an idea of how fast they are with this kind of workload. There is a benchmark tool available here...
Please share your experiences with the building, testing and running stable Threadripper systems having 128 GB of RAM (not less).
> > > The manufacturers' situation as of today (11. September 2017):
- G.Skill has announced on 10th of August a 128 GB kit of DDR4-2933 RAM of the Flare X series...
I've setting up a Workstation and with the arrival of Threadripper I asked my self a new question: Would the Quad channel Ram from the X399 chipset suppose a big difference vs dual channel?
I had in mind a 1800x + X370 AORUS Gaming 5 with dual channel RAM, but now I'm wondering if the...
Does anybody know the difference between socket Sp3 for epyc & TR4 for threadripper. I can think of 3 possibilities
1. The Sockets are the same but the motherboards are different. Eg. Epyc in a threadripper will only have access to 4 memory channels and 60 +/- 4 PCIe lanes.
2. The pin outs are...
It looks like AMD officially announced the ThreadRipper CPU today:
Well... that kinda steals the thunder of Intel's Core i9 processor announcement. We're supposed to get more technicial details...
