    45C with my Alpha 8045??

Alpha's are designed to suck air instead of blow, I have tried both on mu 8045 as well as 6035's and they all perform better in 'suck' mode. If you are not sure about the tightness of the springs, add a washer on all four (at the bottom of the spring). I would also get a fan like a Delta (no...

New VTB Santa Cruz Drivers for Win2k/XP (41.27)

The only issue I have with the official drivers is when I play an MP3 under MediaPlayer. It would sometimes sound like it was on mute and the only way to get the volume back to normal is to open the SantaCruz volume control in the task bar. Other than that, no issues whatsoever.

want a sound card from hercules

If I also remember right, the original Fortissimo used the Yamaha 744 chipset ( I owned this card and it was a CPU hog). I had a Super7 board from PCChips that already had the C-Media 8738 (which is an upgraded 8338, which was buggy as hell). The Yamaha and C-Media are older chipsets simply...

want a sound card from hercules

I wouldn't call the the Crystal 4624 chipset on the FII mediocre. For one thing, CPU utilization is even lower than its 4630 based big brothers (GameTheatre and SC) so gaming is no proble, Sound quality-wise, its the same as the other two. As for driver support, Hercules has been a little slow...

The USB Cable from an Abit KT7A is diffrent from the Epox 8KHA+ can I use the abit cable on the EPOx?

You should look at the mobo manual and make sure that ground wires go to ground and hot wires go to hot wires. A '+' sign on the pin usually means the red wire goes into it and everything else follows.

Unlocked 1.2 Durons Appearing In Japan

Yeah but it looks so easy to unlock anyway, especially compared to the XP's.

    Abit KG7 video card issue

even if you have bad memory (which isn't the case) it would still post. Its either the video card or a bad AGP slot. If you have a spare card lying around to test it would have been great.

Windows XP Drivers for NetGear FA310TX NIC?

If I'm not mistaken, that NIC is based on the 'Tulip" chipset. XP should have drivers for it built-in.

    Printers: Parallel vs. USB

Another plus of using USB instead of parallel is the cable size. USB cables are nice and slim; parallel are way bulky and it doesn't hekp tidying up my already untidy desk.

    Geforce 3 Ti500 brands

As long as their warranty and price is decent. For example, PNY (relative new comer to the video card business) offers a lifetime warranty on their cards plus the prices are cheaper. MSI is cheap but their warranty is only one year. Probably the bigger names are Elsa, Hercules and Asus.

    Linksys router + cable modem + Phoneline = :(

Its probably the router. I'm not familiar with the Linksys but make sure the DNS is on and set to get an IP automatically. Disable any kind of PPPoe or any kind of DSL configuration.

    Linksys router + cable modem + Phoneline = :(

HHmmm.. I have a similar setup except I use a Netgear RP114 router and a Netgear PE102 ethernet to HPNA bridge. Cable is TW-Roadrunner. Works like a charm, make sure to run the XP networking wizard on the PC with the HPNA connection and choose the option ' this computer is connected to the...

How can I hook up two comps to use Cable.

Get a router with ethernet and Home PNA( which runs off a your regular phoneline; make sure your phone cables have 4 wires on them). A Panasonic router off CompUSA is $99 (1 port ethernet only), a Linksys is about $150. Add the cost of a HPNA PCI card ($30) or check this out at Surplus...

    Forget the KR7A-RAID, Shuttle's new AK35GTR (AK31 Rev 3.1 on crack) has 6-channel audio, ATA133 RAID, and USB 2.0

What's so special about SoftMenu. Just about everybody and their Grandma can do what SoftMenu does nowadays, so that ain't nothing special. The Shuttle board has CPU voltage, multiplier, 1MHz bus steppings, DDR voltage, etc settings in BIOS. I was being sarcastic. Didn't you see my ;)? :)
