Ok... i dont know why you would want to mix and match on wireless product but that is ok... You have the wg311 54g wireless card on a 802.11 b system.. Have you check to make sure that you didnt mess up the wep/wpa encription codes? That will not allow you to connect if you did that... Next...

Usb printer server will do the trick.. as far as the scanning abilities.. the are going to be lost... I am not sure wether the USB switch is going to work... I am not confident that the print server is going to find the printer every time... I think they you have to have the printer directly...

Ok i looked around and found that a hell of a lot of people are having this problem with they upgraded the firmware from 1.30.1 to 1.30.7 ... They are reporting massive packet loss at the router much the same as your problem with the ping...
