The desktop.ini contains settings for the folder it's located in. If there's no desktop.ini in a folder it will default to the systems default settings.
I assume you mean that you don't want the two drives connected to the same controller?
If that's what you mean it's refered to as duplexing. However I am not sure it will work with RAID 0. I have only run duplexed drives in RAID 1 with high-end SCSI drives and RAID controllers (like HP and Mylex).
Most of the games out there use Safedisc for copy protection. There's a neat little utility called UnSafedisc that can decrypt the .exe file. I won't give you a link but it's not hard to find.
<< A friend of mine got DSL about 3 months ago and he runs Win2k and was shocked to find that there were no Win2k drivers for his external 3com router that was provided by the DSL company he went with. >>
Why would he need drivers? Was it hooked to a USB port?
<< i am on a P3 600B and runs at about 55 C idle and 74C when Q3 >>
Some motherboards report twice the actual temperature, it seems to me like you have one of those.
My PIII-733@852 is about 28C idle and 44C during high load (such as Q3 or NHL2001).
I use a Gorb because it's pretty silent.
AFAIK WinME imports all the settings from autoexec.bat and config.sys to the registry and then deletes config.sys (it needs autoexec.bat to set the keyboard).
I'd use Windows 2000 if Microsoft would release drivers for the Sidewinder gamepads and the Sidewinder force feedback wheel.
I can't believe that they are so damn stupid that they don't even release drivers for their own hardware.
BTW I use WinME.
I have an Adaptec 2940U2W SCSI card with a Plextor 12/4/32S CDRW plus an IBM 4.3GB UWSCSI HD that I use only for mastering/burning CD's. The OS and apps/games are installed on an IBM 75GXP IDE drive.
I wouldn't trade the stability of burning from a SCSI HD to a SCSI CDRW for anything, however...
Oh, another thing. Do not connect to the phono in on the reciever. Because old recordplayers deliver a weak signal the phono input amplifies the signal. Therefore you will get a nasty buzzing sound if you connect a standar line signal to it.
It sounds like you a) have a nasty grounding error, or b)have connected the headphone out to your reciever.
To resolve a) you can try to connect both your computer and the reciever to the same outlet.
To resolve b) you need to connect the line out to the reciever.
That's all I can think of right...
IMO any CDRW that only lasts a year is crap! I had used my old Panasonic 7501 almost daily for almost three years when I retired it (still fully functional). I burned hundreds of CD's with it and never had any problems whatsoever with it. I'll be really dissapointed if my Plextor 12/4/32S...
You need to boot the server with a bootdisk and run Ghost from the dosprompt.
All versions of Ghost (i think) support NTFS4, NTFS5 is a different story though.
Remember that NT doesn't support plug&play so don't use the image on different hardware.
