Kaspersky Lab, the Russian anti-virus specialist, has warned about a new Internet worm that attacks Linux-based computers. The worm, which executes under Red Hat Linux, is called Ramen, and represents a surprise for what had been considered to be one of the most protected platforms available today.

Why not?
If the virus is intended to wipe your HD, and accomplishes this, then it's obviously successful, though not in a positive way. :)

Guess it was bound to happen sooner or later

<< The word destructive seems more appropriate. >>

The word complementary seems more appropriate here, as the virus's purpose is to be destructive, something which it's obviously successful in being :)

It's not a virus, it's a worm. It exploits vulernabilities that were patched 9 months ago.

What's the big deal...there are worms and vulnerabilities reported for various Unixes all the time...A good system administrator keeps up to date on patches to keep vulnerabilties down.

The only way to make your System 100% secure is to unplug the modem and the network card. And of course you'd have to lock in a vault or something in case someone came to your house to steal your data...
