I've been trying to use this product called "Virual CD" by Microtest... I'm not having much luck with it. It claims to be able to make a "Virtual disk" from all types of disks, including copy-writed disks too.

HALF the disks I make don't work! I make the virtual Disk, load the program from that, and try to launch it, and get "PLEASE INSERT DISK*** INTO CDROM" bla bla... ARG!

If they expect me to purchase this product ($40) then it better damn well work! :|

Anyone else using this program, and with any success????

I think it's because some CDs have an embedded signature or something like that.

Yea, some do and some don't. It's just agravating when 2 out of the first 3 CD's I try don't work! :|

I read on their page where Diablo2 doesn't work (one that I tried), but they only listed that and AOE2. I tried CATACLYSM and it doesn't work.. I just wonder how many others isn't going to work. :(

I wish friggen Software companies wouldn't screw up DISKS like that... or I wish Microtest were better "hackers" hehehe...

I just hate to buy this product if it's only going to work on Old CD's... :|

I've had good luck with a program called Virtual Drive from Far Stone technologies. It has copied every thing I've thrown at it, the catch is some software needs the "intelligent extraction and exhaustive read options checked and that increases the copy time to over 20 hrs in some cases.

Most of the games out there use Safedisc for copy protection. There's a neat little utility called UnSafedisc that can decrypt the .exe file. I won't give you a link but it's not hard to find.
