Xbits labs seem somewhat unimpressed with doom 3
FarCry is better graphically than Doom. More shaders, lighting quality can be achieved in FarCry equal/better than that of Doom, and Character models are better, textures can be offset mapped, etc... Doom3 is a great game however.- Pentium

interesting.. counterpoint to d3: hl2 30% faster on ati hardware?
Half life 2 will be a great game, but engine wise, its already outdated. Doom3 style rendering IS the future.- Pentium

QUAKE 4 ANYONE?
Quake 4 is supposed to be an immersive single player experience along with a good MP one. I for one cant wait to see how raven will make use of the Doom 3 technology. -

AMD Opteron 144. A poor mans FX51?
You need registered ram for one thing...that costs more you wouldnt get 6x the performance, and yes they work as well as their A64 counterparts in gaming.- Pentium

OpenGL uses Fragment programs, which are the OpenGL equivalent of shaders. -

Farcry DOOM 3 Half Life 2
Just judging from the doom alpha which is far from the final game image quality wise, is as good or in some cases better.- Pentium

You can judge from the e3 2003 trailer, not fully but it gives a good idea of how the game looks graphically.
