Question Zen 6 Speculation Thread

To be honest, considering how awful copilot+ rollout is, I doubt this chip will even come out. We might have Zen4 refreshes as the mainstream option for the 4th or 5th year in a row

Next year, Apple is entering a $600-$700 laptop market with a tiny 3nm 2P+4E chip, so I think there should be some decent option from AMD and Intel to counter that. But fat NPU is definitely not the right answer.

Some news at Computerbase, until you realize that they poached some posts at AT forum.

Same with 3DCenter now reporting at AT0 is intended for cloud gaming: https://www.3dcenter.org/news/news-des-1-september-2025

Their 1st source is quoting @adroc_thurston

Also, RGT getting tipped as well:

which leads to....

TBH it's also chatgpt5 effect. It's really efficient, I just wrote

"find the latest leaks about zen 6 on vbulletin hardware forums including anandtech chiphell techpowerup toms hardware etc"

it immediately pushed out adhoc thurston and keplerL2 direct source links and accurate info......

scary! try it yourself

I hope GPT and other LLM can eventually put the likes of wtftech and RGT out of business. As I said before, they are basically glorified news aggregators at this point, which is ripe for disruption if all they do is just scour the internet for rumors just to make clickbait articles/videos.

RSS feeds are as old as the world itself.
People just like watching people on YT ramble for hours.

Earlier, MLID reported "Bumblebee" as a lowend Medusa-series APU. Perhaps that?

No idea if this newly presented roadmap is a legit confirmation or if it is actually just recap of that MLID video...
Cool. Tweaktown gives the below specs for bumblebee aka MDS-3

Bumblebee (MDS-3): FP10 and/or FP8 socket: TSMC N3C monolithic
2-core Zen 6 + 2-core Zen 6c + 2-core Zen 6 LP = 6 total cores (2+2+2)
2-4 CU RDNA 4 or 3.5 (+) iGPU (both architectures are referenced as possibilities)
128-bit LPDDR5X memory controller
"MDS-3" is specifically listed as targeting the "budget laptop" market

There is also a new one "Medusa point little" aka MDS-2 — maybe this is scrapped now ? (Edit: maybe 2028?)

Medusa Point Little (MDS-2): FP10 socket, TSMC N3P monolithic
2 or 4-core Zen 6 + 4-core Zen 6c = 8-10 cores total (2 or 4+4+2) (AMD has not yet decided if they want to go with 2 or 4 "full" Zen 6 cores)
4 CU RDNA 4 or 3.5 (+) iGPU (both architectures are referenced as possibilities, and there are different CU counts referenced between documents of different variants)
128-bit LPDDR5X memory controller
"MDS-2" is specifically listed as targeting "AI 5" and "AI 3" class products

MDS-1 == normal strix point (with optional CPU CCD)

Edit: from April (not the 1st)

So we have following zen6 APUs ?
  1. Desktop to laptop APU
  2. strix halo socket
    1. MDSH (medusa halo)
  3. Strix point socket
    1. MDSP (medusa premium)
    2. MDS1 + 12 CPU CCD
    3. MDS1 (medusa point)
    4. MDS2
    5. MDS3 (bumblebee)
  4. Mendocino replacement ??

Strix point socket
  1. MDSP (medusa premium)
  2. MDS1 + 12 CPU CCD
  3. MDS1 (medusa point)
  4. MDS2
  5. MDS3 (bumblebee)

all these are useless 😭 I'm 100% sure amd is losing money with all these choices

market only needs:
- medusa range (top end, x3D etc)
- medusa halo
- medusa baby
- phoenix++++

So bumblebee MDS-3 is also a transformer, hmmm 🤔 @Kepler_L2

He absolutely is.

Also, its a bit interesting that Zen 6 mobile isnt coming until 2027. Zen 5's first appearance was in mobile. I cant wait to see what Gator Rande is.
