I have seen support for 7200, but then others that say 6400 (in EXPO mode)
Thanks, I just watched the video about CAMM2 in the memory and storage thread. So anything over 7000 would be a good bet if buying piece meal? IE waiting on X3D chips 870x mb.

EDIT: Regular DIMMs
Double edit: 2x32GB DIMMs NM just checked Newegg and no 2x32GB DIMM kits above 7000.

Are there any tricks to finding a good bin? Like any special geographical locations that might get better bins (like Taiwan or even Korea)?
Not as far as i know, just have to buy the lotto tickets and hope for the best..
The only saving grace is because ive played with so many AM5 cpus i can identify if its a good or bad sample pretty fast 😉

Looking forward to your conclusions @Markfw . Do you have a power meter to compare 9950X consumption to your 7950X when both are loaded to 100%?

As far as we know, for Zen4 the optimum RAM speed was 6000, as that would run the memory controller and infinity fabric at 1:1 ratio, right? What will be the equivalent for Zen5, 7200?

I know I will be temped when the next 3D cache chips come out. But that would mean a whole motherboard/CPU/RAM swap. And I would have to find a buyer for my current combo. Also it would likely be costly overall :/

In case anyone else wants to know, B&H show the 9950x in pre-sale, but you can only ask for notification. But when you get it, everyone will have it, so you won't have to waste your time. I am on the notification, and wil post back when I get it. NO PRICES SHOWN.

Web site is all messed up. One place says 3.4 base, the other says 4.3 base.

Preorder starts at 9:00am ET, Wed Jul 31, so 3 weeks to go, but reviews sooner ???

I might join this train, but entirely depends on reviews & if extra fps @ 3k are worth it. Knowing reviewers don't use 3k but one can ascertain improvements between 2k & 4k.
Wish 21:9 game testing was more a thing.. 😀

Been itching for a new gaming rig. Held off so far with some close bites.

9800X3D
MSI GODLIKE - gotta love that 4x PCIE CPU slot at the bottom
2x24 7200 CL34 - hope it's dual rank
Seasonic Vertex GX -1200 - will be allocated to a dedicated Media rig, probably my 5800X3D rig, and will re-use the Tx-1000 Seasonic in the new gaming build

Yes. I think so.

But the question remains, is the 870e Better ? in what respect ? I mean $285 for the best X670E board is a great deal.
I vaguely remember reading that AMD was making the X870E have native USB 4 ports, and not just support USB 4 like on X670E boards.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.
