@AdamK47 You need to add a comment, no "just pictures" in the tech section.

As for my builds, I decided that my second build will be high end air cooled, and downvolted. I may run ECO mode on both, we will have to see how things workout.

I have a ROG CROSSHAIR X670E HERO and (two) 7950x in the mail on its way to me, but will take some time before i have it up and running..

If anyone (@AdamK47?) have their asus system booted, can you check if you get SP value in bios ?

Hasn't always been Intel. Found this thread from 2010. Have bought many CPUs since then. All Intel though.

lol is the number of games installed still 750?

Ordered the 7950X from best buy. I receive it Sunday.

…and even though I refuse to give newegg my business normally, they were the only place I could preorder the mini itx board, so I pulled the trigger. It will also be here this weekend.

This launch was rather disappointing, however. No EXPO 64gb kits as far as I can tell, and no PCIE5 SSDs either.

If they are not ready for a much anticipated launch, you can be sure that they have bugs yet to be fixed. The last thing they want is watching glee turn into terror as their SSDs corrupt bits at PCIe 5.0 speeds.

My local Microcenter has 25+ 7950X right now. As usual the upgrade temptation is extremely high. I certainly don’t need it, my 5900X does everything I need and more … but playing with new toys …

Kinda wish I had Microcenter or Fry's nearby so I could have picked up parts today. Got a 7950X, X670E Aorus Master, and 32GB kit of Trident Z5 Neo 6000CL30 on the way from Newegg, due Friday.

I was on the fence about buying a 7600X or 7700X and waiting for 3D cache models, but if there is no 7900X3D or 7950X3D I won't upgrade. I figure losing $100-150 reselling a 7950X in 3-6 months (whenever vcache comes out) is not a big deal to me.

You must resist the urge.

I always tell myself whatever people are buying now if you wait a year you will not only get better products but more stable firmware and better value for your dollar. If you on a system that predates say Zen 3 on the AMD side and rocketlake on the intel side I would look at upgrading. For newer systems hold.

That's been announced for November. You were still expecting them earlier?
Yes.

If you do upgrade, don't feel bad. I'm replacing a 5950x. Oh and uh, I replaced my X570 motherboard with an "X570S" motherboard. Yes, I have problems.

To be fair, my PC allows me to make money, so I'm not technically throwing dollars out the window. At least that is what I tell myself.

I'm running a 5900X as well, and I think I'm going to do the same. Probably wait to see what comes up with X3D and more mature MB with better/cheaper DDR5.

In the ideal case if you manage to sell your not so old stuff while upgrading to the latest and best it shouldn't be that much you have to pay.

This would be the only reason I would upgrade right now. If I were selling my old parts and able to get half the cost on the new stuff covered.

Will you be keeping the 12900KS system then we can get some head to head numbers from you?
It will be disassembled since I'm not building an entirely new system. RAM, video card, storage, and power supply will carry over.

Me as well, I've held off on a 7950X so far, because the 2x32GB DDR5 selection is kind of crap, the motherboards are hardly in stock, and the X3D version might be real and incoming in less than 6 months this time around. The availability isn't looking too bad either, so I could change my mind if needed.
