Zeig Heil! Arnold said to praise Hitler

Who wanted that S.S. uniform?

"I admired Hitler, for instance, because he came from being a little man with almost no formal education, up to power."

But Hitler DID accomplish much outside his hatred of non-Aryans...

The problem is that he accomplished it BECAUSE of his hatred, not in spite of it. That makes him a pathetic little man who got lucky. :|

He does have a point.

Hitler would be an interesting political study.

Does that make me a Nazi?

Hitler was horrible, but people today are WAY too eager to associate other people with him.

Horrible or not he was one of the most influential people of the last century.

Wow. I'm guessing this is before they found out about the concentration camps? I think think that would of changed their perspective on "Man of the Year."

Plus, Time doesn't make "Man/Person of the Year" because they were GOOD. They've stated before that the person who influenced the year the most is the one they choose. Good or bad.

They had actually considered making UBL man of the year in 2001. But I think that the Time/Warner execs would have been killed by families of those killed on 9/11.

Even if he did say it, Arnold is still better than Davis. 😀
Besides....he didn't say he agreed with him. Many people can admire and yet still be disgusted by someone.....like with Bill Clinton.

Hitler just started his conquest of Europe then, in 1939 was when he invaded Poland.

You know when this whole California recall thing started like most non Californians I viewed it as interesting but not really anything important to anyone other than folks living in California. But after watching what has taken place out there especially with the precisely timed releases of "dirt" through the LA Times I kind of hope Arnold scores a big victory. This kind of crap really needs to stop on both sides.

American's loved Hitler in the late 1930s, and even into the 1940s. A professor that I had once had a collection of American jokes from WW2. Here's one of them...

Q: How do you fit 40 Jews in a VW?
A: You put them in the ash tray.

Just as racism was rampant in the US in that time period so was anti-Semitism. It's disgusting to still see apologists in 2003.

He has the German accent he must love Hitler. More of Gray Davis' cheap and dirty tactics.

From CNN:
Schwarzenegger told reporters he has raised millions of dollars for the Simon Wiesenthal Center -- a Jewish organization that works to preserve the memory of the Holocaust -- to fight prejudice.

In a CNN interview from August, the center's founder, Rabbi Marvin Hier defended Schwarzenegger, saying he has done more to further the cause of Holocaust awareness than any other movie star.

Funny that a guy who supposedly admired Hitler would do so much to make sure the Holocaust was properly remembered from the perspective of it's victims.

Considering the American populous didn't even know of Extermination camps until after the war, I doubt that joke was from WW2.

If Hitler died before the war, I'd bet there would be statues around of him today in city squares.

No politician should ever mention Hitler. It's almost always going to backfire on him. Especially a politician of Austrian descent.

I really like arnie and so I'll give the benefit of the doubt on this. I'm going to pretend he doesn't admire hitler as what he did in terms of starting a war, killing etc, but what he did as that sentence specifically states: acheived a lot and came from nothing into something. Now, the end result was not good, but really this is a similar statement to when what's his face said that the terrorists in 9/11 were not cowards. It's an iffy choice of words, but still.

Well in Arnolds defense I seriously doubt that back then he even dreamed of running for a political office, especially Governor of CA.

You need to read up on your history a bit. Jews have been more accepted and been more successful in the US throughout it's history than they have been any other place on this planet.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, allegedly to an interviewer, in 1975

I love how everything the media reports is taken as a fact

The Jewish Republican organization is backing him as well.

Prepare thy sons for death on account of the sins of thy father, lest they rise again and inherit the earth, and fill the earth with wars.
Zeig Heil, indeed

You should study history some more, I'm thinking.

Jan 2, 1939 was about 8 months before the invasion of Poland (Sept 1, 1939) Austria was already annexed by this point, but that was seemingly a very willing merger.

But what's up with Arnold refusing to debate any of the other "candidates", including Davis. Could it be that he has no idea what he's doing?? Or that he has no real platform?? I just think it's BS that he's riding his celebrity on this thing.
