Considering the American populous didn't even know of Extermination camps until after the war, I doubt that joke was from WW2.

If Hitler died before the war, I'd bet there would be statues around of him today in city squares.

No politician should ever mention Hitler. It's almost always going to backfire on him. Especially a politician of Austrian descent.
