Also on the same note - I also have a truck and am used to commuting on motorcycles, so I'm really not worried about the lack of rear seats or storage space..

Yeah I'm having second thoughts. For one, the company I work for isn't doing fantastic. Granted, we're "making it" right now, no more layoffs, but we've let go of staff and taken paycuts.

I feel like rolling up in one of these is sorta crappy. Granted, I drive a really crappy car right now, I still feel like it'd be a bit out of place.

On the other hand, buying an m coupe would probably be enough to make me stop riding.. Not that riding is a bad thing, but me being in the hospital for a minor accident would be a major problem for the company and they know it.

Also, a decent G35 is about 20k (06+ 6mt sport). I can get a REALLY nice low mileage 07 m coupe for 28k..

Hrm..

Couldn't you keep the current crap mobile for commuting and drive the M on the weekends?

I could, but I don't want to spend $25k++ on a weekend vehicle like that or I'd just buy another 1098/1198 lol...

Eh... it is what it is. Just sucks that I'm about to buy a 22k G35 and for $5k more I could have an M coupe

Get the M Coupe... I would drive ANYTHING with an S54 in it. That engine is an absolute masterpiece, those that complain about it's lack of torque have never driven an M3/M Coupe or even gotten a ride in one for that matter.

I have driven it, and yea...it revs quite quickly. Quite faster than what I am used to (although my little horsie revs it up too!)

You've posted that comment countless times. Firstly your link is not a standard car in any way, secondly the US exhaust has a resonator for some inexplicable reason and thirdly crappy the video cameras people use for these would make the Titanic's fog horn sound tinny.

You're too easy... :D Not my fault they ruined the sound of the S50B32 for an extra 20hp

Considering you're attitude and overall ignorance, I seriously doubt you have the money or class to be within 10 feet of one of these things, and I imagine that will be the case for the rest of your life.

I'd love to be proven wrong.

What crawled up your ass?

I wasn't trolling. I merely posted a video of an engine that I think lacks in aural pleasure.

You've been called out on it numerous times--the engine was superchagred, it wasn't in stock form, and hell, the quality of that video is shit.

Trying to use it as some form of argument is a massive exercise in banal futility.

Numerous times being one?

Have you ever heard a stock one in person? It has the same snarly ass rasp as the one in the video.

Just because you're deaf or don't agree with my opinion doesn't mean you have to throw around insults like a 5 year old.

The fact that you're just bitching at me makes the whole thing laughable. DividebyZero called you out as well, but it's better to pretend it's just me.

The funny thing is, if you'd follow your own advice (about reading and whatnot) you'd realize that I have not only seen one in stock form, but DRIVEN such a car--numerous times and more times than you I suspect.

And no, there is no such snarly ass rasp. The exhaust isn't like a V8's, but it has its own symphonic quality--it's just you have to rev the engine up to hear it. Dinan's exhaust should improve that.

Mate, you live once. If you can afford it do it. Get something you REALLY want.

If you really want the G35, DO IT
If you want the Z4MC, DO IT

$5k over 2-3yrs of ownership isn't bad imo.

It's an engine that sounds better under load. Just like the M5's V10, for example. Sounds a bit lame just revving it, but under load it's a sonorous joy!

That's what I'm saying. Putting the engine under load, i.e., letting it rev up under load.

Sorry for the confusion.

Btw, I was looking through Road and Track, and I spotted a Dinan ad for a 4.6L V8--they claim its the 4.0L V8 that's been bored and likely stroked. If that's the case, I'd be really tempted to put one of these in the Z4 M, because I doubt we'll see a proper Z4 M again (Manual, proper M badging etc).

Anyone heard anything about it?

Anything is possible with enough money behind it.

They did a lot of swaps into the E30 M3 from "big brothers" in the lineup back in the 80's.

I would imagine the 4.6 was the 4.4 V8 stroked, but I don't really know.

The ad said it was a 4.0L M3 engine.

But supposedly, the 4.4L V8 engine going in the M3 GTS and being turbo'd in the m5 is a stroked 4.0L

I have read this on Autoblog, but I cannot confirm.
