I bet you're gonna have some kickass food at the reception, aren't ya?

As of right now everyone is getting prime rib. We are making a few exceptions for vegetarians and those who do not eat beef.

ugg caterd prime rib. every single time i have had that i swear the meat moo'ed when i stabbed it with a fork.

My friends are getting married on the 3rd too.

Question for you or anyone else who knows:

The info-
1. I am in the wedding party and at some point in the reception am expected to dance with someone.

2. I have never danced before- besides once unsuccessfully at a school dance in 7th grade. I don;t even know the basic "box" pattern dance that you see in movies.

3. I have looked in the phone book for local places that teach dance, only places were not the type I am interested in (there was irish, ballet, and some profession stage type of modern dance)

The question-
1. Where can I pick up a few moves real quick. It doesn't have to look good, just has to not make me look like a dufus. Maybe a website that shows positioning of the feet and how to lead would be great.

thanks in advance

Not really catered per say. We've hired a chef that I have studied under. 😛

I have the same dilemma as I am definetly not one to dance. I just look at it that by the time dancing starts everyone has enough drinks in them not to give a damn. 😉

Thats good a real cook.

I dont understand why when prime rib is catered its fricken raw. Dont get me wrong i do enjoy a med rare steak but damn i think caterers have a cow in the back and carve it up and slap a hunk of it on the plate.

some weddings that I went to as one of the groomsmen, i had to pay for my own tux, while others I didn't. depending on how "rich" the people involved are I guess.

bridesmaids have to pay for their own dresses? that sucks.
Traditionally, yes. Taking this into consideration we went with a fairly inexpensive dress.

No, not traditionally, just as I wouldnt expect the groomsmen to rent their own tuxes

You cheap bastard 🙂, why not plan better so you can afford these basic parts of the wedding.

I'm not rich by any stretch of the imagination, but at our wedding, since we invited the people, we paid for the dresses/tuxes/wetbar/food/dj/singer/organist/flowers/cake/rental car/etc because it was our wedding.

Usually groomsmen pay for their own tuxes, but the groom will give them all a gift. Well thats the way I know it.

This wedding that I went to as a groomsmen, not only did the female side paid for the whole thing, they got the tux in additon to the gift (I got a silver letter opener). There was a reception with high quality food and cakes for both the rehearsal and the real deal.

The cheapest one I had to pay $200+ for the tux, and the reception was held at some YMCA center.

did anyone sit down with this girl and tell her that she needs to be more commited to the jb of bridesmaid? I mean, like put it right out there? It might just be a case of her not being able to afford the dress and is to embarrassed to say so and therefore is making up excuses. If she is really close with your furture wife, she might want to just pick up the cost of the dress to have this girl remain in the wedding party.

Sitting her down and calmly but firmly insisiting on a more serious commitment will throw it back in the girls court and hopefully she will resign out of repect and friendship if she cannot live up to it.

We had to kick out one of my groomsmen for virtually the same thing. We asked all the groomsmen to pay for their own tuxedo rentals, which they all agreed to do. It got to be really close to wedding day and this one really good friend of mine still hadn't payed. I had asked him about it numerous times leading up to that point in time, and he said he still had intentions to pay. It came down to an ultimatum: if he didn't pay for the tuxedo by a certain day, the rental place couldn't guarantee that he would be able to get one. He missed the deadline, and I had to tell him that he couldn't be in the wedding. Apparently he got really offended, because he didn't even show up for the wedding, and our friendship is now pretty much nonexistent.

Gotta love weddings. Two people decide to get married so a bunch of other people have to shell out a ton of money for their 'blissful' ceremony.

only to end up in divorce half the time. ya gotta love how weddings fuel the american economy

Seriously...I have like 6 weddings already lined up for next summer...I'm going to have to freak'n start a wedding fund.

congrats - i hope everything goes well for you. hopefully this proves to be the only blight when you look back at everything. be prepared for something else unpredictable to happen though. the AC in the hall we rented wasn't working when we got married, on the hottest day of the year. 🙂 this is with a "candleabra" blazing 5 candles on every damn table to add to the heat. they got it working later, but you get the idea. best wishes
