to be fair, the tradition does dictate that the groomsmen pay for their own tux. the groom could, pick up all the cost if he wants to.

but then again, i don' t know when this tradition started and if it only applies to western culture.

Hey now everyone. Don't be so hard on em!

I got married last year, if someone kept blowing off paying for their dress, I'd have fired em too. A wedding costs way too much to have one person screw it all up. I'm sure the bride and groom would like to have the same number of guys and girls on both sides. To have one person screw around, blowing it off, throws up a major concern that they might eventually back out.

Sucks you had to do it, but you gotta do what you gotta do....

nah, these days they set up a gift registry online, so the couple can ask for certain items with little fuss. i'm attending a wedding in three weeks and they had a registry up at crate and barrel. picked an item, gave my cc info, and it was shipped straight to the bride. pretty easy.
