have remoted to a machine, then from there - remoted to another machine
(desktop to laptop, laptop to work server)

or

have directly copied contents of your local CDROM to the drive of a remote server.

i'm obviously not dorky enough.

If only 1 machine is accessible from outside, you remote to it, then from there to another machine on its network

I often remote connect to other computers in my network from my laptop

the most efficient techie is the most lazy 😉

they like to set things up in the least time-consuming way.

i see.. i guess i just havent been in that situation yet. But I think i'm going to go do it now, just so i can say that i have.

IN FACT== I'm going to remote to server, and from the server- remote back to my machine, and run my desktop by remoting through the server.

HAHAHA beat that you nerds! 😉

WHOA!! This dude is definitely on god mode haha. Thanks for upgrading me to uber geek

what happens if you remote connect to computer B from computer A, then you remove connect to computer A from computer B?😕

i bet that would really confuse the mouse 😛

EDIT: and i mean doing something like VNC or Virtual Desktop, not just a telnet type remote connection.

I secure shell into a box thats accessable from the outside. Once I'm in that box I can access anything else on my work network. For the Windows machines VNC is the program of choice.

I couldn't get VNC on my smartphone to work... it crashed it.. but I nef from it all the time.

I think you'd have to Remote Desktop to a Terminal Server, VNC on terminal Server to something to something, etc.

I haven't done this myself, but, it should work.

I don't get why this is a novelty.

Try ssh X connection to a box tunnelled into a Machine running terminal services so you can establish a shell to the initial ssh box.

illustrated:
A->B->C->B.

Terminal Services and Remote Desktop Connection r0x0rz. We also use SMS here at work so we don't have to get out of our offices to fix machines. 😀
