I secure shell into a box thats accessable from the outside. Once I'm in that box I can access anything else on my work network. For the Windows machines VNC is the program of choice.

I think you'd have to Remote Desktop to a Terminal Server, VNC on terminal Server to something to something, etc.

I haven't done this myself, but, it should work.

I don't get why this is a novelty.

Try ssh X connection to a box tunnelled into a Machine running terminal services so you can establish a shell to the initial ssh box.
