It's been done, it's just useless. All the Prius one has the power to do is run an electric fan for car ventilation when parked: (no A/C tho)

Audi has that on A8, or they had, not sure if it's an option on the latest generation.

To be honest, I don't see why it's useless - Audi also used it for cooling while parked and A/C is off. The situations where it helps, parked car in the Sun in summer, is exactly when you'd have lots of sunshine. And having your car be 0-10C over ambient temp instead of 30-40C when you come back doesn't sound any less useful than say heated seats in the winter.
I'm thinking it's more about the price and perhaps extra weight than being useless.

That's a fair point. But for less than half the cost, you can just get a heat-rejecting ceramic tint put on all your windows instead, and not have problems like funny smells getting into your car (from the ventilation fan that pulls air in from the outside) or having limited performance on shady days or under trees or whatever.

I think it's a cool (har, har) idea, it's just a really expensive way to simply run a fan, without any actual air-conditioning associated with it, because all it's doing is circulating air, not actively cooling it. The same money could go towards something like a white leather interior & Huper Optik ceramic tint on the windshield, side windows, and rear windows.

I would be curious to see the results of a science experiment on all of this to get the actual data: feature cost vs. weight cost. vs. actual performance vs. other options like a light-colored interior, sunshade, ceramic tint all around, sunroof vs. no sunroof, and so on.

Next vehicle? I dunno, I am still trying to figure out how people can afford the idiotic price tags on newer stuff. Thinking about a 2015 or so Raptor in a few more years when the F-250 craps out and the price on them drops to ~$12k.

Well, I failed. F-250 started making too many strange noises and had far too many repairs needed so I replaced it last week with a 2013 Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4. Already deleted some of the mileage saver stuff like cylinder deactivation and starting to tune it for 93 octane. Next step is to get rid of as much chrome as I can.

Now I driving Ford Mondeo 2010, next car ( I hope ) , will be Hyuindai Creta . I think its a really good SUV at the average price. Always wanted something bigger, than sedan

That's kind of a surprise. The Mondeo (sold as the Fusion here in the US) isn't considered a "small" car, even here. It's actually a fair bit larger than the Creta. (Longer/wider/heavier, etc.)

Are you just after the "lord of all I survey" seating position that's common in SUVs?

Ya know, that's a good question. A car like that just feels like something that I should hang onto until it's an antique. It already stands out from the crowd now, but can only imagine how it will look sitting next to a bunch of self driving electric crossovers that are all shaped like Kumquats 20 years from now

That means @ 1800W you only get 2-3 miles and hour.

1800W in panels... your going to need a tesla semi with the entire trailer solar paneled out, to get any benifit from panels, and it will still be like a paper cut bleeding out benefit.

This is why Elon said "no we wont do what fiskar did and put that vanity roof on top when you can put a clear one, and enjoy the sky".

Thats about as extreme i think you can get panels on a car, and even then i dont think it can do 1800W.

However at that size i dont think you would need 1800W for 2-3 miles.... that thing is small enough to probably use smaller efficient electric motors.

Its a fun concept and design, and if it is truely 18k... i wouldn't mind picking one up as a man toy to play with. At the very least, use it as a quick commuter in the city.

I picked up one of the last produced 2018MY Civic Si Coupes in October. I keep telling myself that it's great and I don't need a Type R, but I think the only reason I haven't traded it in for one is that I've always wanted a coupe.

God help my wallet if they make a Type R coupe.

Next thing on the list is probably a small SUV for the lady. She loves her fully loaded 2.0T Malibu but misses her 1996 Rav4. I wonder if they're going to put a more compelling engine into the HRV for the next gen like the 1.5T. Oil dilution issues aside the version in the Si is excellent and very enjoyable to drive around town.
