I'll probably wait for the new Z68 boards to hit the market before doing any serious shopping though.

Now that is what I have been thinking about too. I wonder what Intel's agenda really is with this Z68? It sucks trying to "wait" when there is so much excitement right now with the current new release.

Meh.. Have a Q9550 at 3.6 GHz and have not felt the need to upgrade as of yet. I will consider it when 2011 or bulldozer get here but as the only reason I'd have to get more CPU power would be to support a dual GPU configuration (only a single 6970 atm) I'd rather have 2 full x16 lanes.

That and I really should find another job before I think about spending money on things other than my car, gf, and food ;)

e8400 here and yes, it is time to upgrade. I'll be ordering a 2500k and mobo as soon as the egg carries them.

I have a q9550 too, but might upgrade simply because I have an original P35 board and can't overclock higher than 3.2 because the ram slots are unstable past that.

Core2 still kicking some butt i see. I'll either be grabbing a Phenom X4 BE(For a serious OC) or a 2500k in the near future depending on available budget.

From an i7 870? Not a chance. It's difficult to fully load this thing as it is.

I am still running an old Pentium D 3.2 with a Radeon 4870. While I haven't really had any issues with this system, I know its showing its age..so I think this is an ideal time to upgrade for not too much money and see quite a boost.

i7 960 here, loafing along at 3.8.

And no - There is no reason at all to change it.

Core 2 Duo 6420 in my desktop: I think that it's time to upgrade.

Core 2 Duo 8300 in my laptop: I think that I'll wait a year on that one.

I just upgraded my i7 930 from stock 2.8ghz to a healthy 3.26ghz. :) If I feel it slowing me down it's up to 3.6ghz. Probably should of waited on SB for laptop though. Bought a hp envy with a i7 but I think the gpu is the limiting factor on it anyways. Yeah not interested in SB for desktop at all.

Phenom II X4 965 @ 3.8 / 2.7

It's just a year old, but the Sandy Bridge review did have me thinking of an upgrade. If the stock Intel cooler can do 4.4, then decent aftermarket should give a bit more at least. And since 1156 compatible coolers are compatible with the new boards for SB, that makes it even better as my Hyper212+ should do the job nicely on a 2500K if I do get one.

Since I am in no hurry, though, I'll let the Z68 boards arrive first and see what AMD delivers with Bulldozer before touching my main rig, especially because I am not yet doing anything that demands much more than what my 965 BE can handle.

I keep trying to tell myself the same thing!!! BUT, all the SB buzz and a Microcenter less than 30 minutes away is kinda taking control over me.

Then our situation is not quite the same. I am not American, so I do not have a Microcenter near me. Perhaps if there were a Microcenter equivalent here that offered significant discounts on a Sandy Bridge upgrade, I may be more tempted to jump in. But as it is, while it is nice to think about a Sandy Bridge upgrade, I don't really have much motivation to do so as of the moment.

WOW, $200? Damn, i might just wait for BF 2011, non-sb i7s might be cheap as hell.

Right now, if i up to sandy bridge, i'm looking at $500 bucks(which i don't have atm).

I can probably cut it down to $250 if i sell some of this stuff.

I've got a Phenom II running at 3.8ghz paired with a GTX 460 overclocked to 925mhz on the core.

My entire computer is relatively new, and it seems balanced. It's a very potent gaming machine, especially considering what I paid for the parts ($140 for the motherboard and CPU, and another $120 for the GPU).

In 6 months to a year, I'm going to consider adding another GTX 460 in SLI. Further down the road I'm going to just upgrade my entire platform. It's not like it cost me much.

Well my main gaming rig is a q6600 overclocked with upgrade video card. I also have x3 710 as my second gaming rig unlocked and overclocked to 3.5 the 620, 715 and 3800 single core. I am thinking it will be a good upgrade from the q6600
