Just paid off my credit card today (I owed only $ 700 at the begining of the month... ). The car's paid off, and so are all other loans. (except that I owe my sister a bit)

When I was in grad school (2000-2002) I lost my funding and didn't get a job for five months after graduation. I ended up accumulating quite a debt. I remember.. the day I started my job, m total debt was $ 20,700. Now, except for @ $3k I owe my sister, everything else is paid off. I can actually start saving now :)

--->going to get :beer: friday evening to celebrate.. paying in CASH, of course ;)

If you still owe your sister $3k, you're still in debt ;) Congrats though, pay her back and you're homefree

I think daveymark has 3K he can loan you to pay off your sister.

He has been rambling on about some 3K check that he refuses to send the proceeds to the rightful owner.

Paying off Debt rocks. Of course, I've got a mortgage, so I wont be paying that off anytime soon.

SIGH - I had $500 on my credit card last June. As of today, I know have a total balance of $8k

damn, i need to pay it off!

nah ... i need to stay away from the stores. Target, Gamestop, Old Navy and whatever else the fiance buys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i told myself i would get out of debt within a year, but we keep finding hot deals for traveling. Next month we're headed to FL and we're only paying $275 RT for TWO ppl! I broke down and bought the tickets

Now you need to break down and pay off your card. Don't get married with that debt still there.

It's not a hot deal if you are borrowing money to pay for it (unless you are just going to sell the item right away).

Yes, and you will undoubtedly spend more down there on plastic, further driving you into debt. This is how the American economy works, unfortunately - we overspend, thousands of families are mired in debt payments for efficient cars they replaced when they didn't need to be replaced, "necessities" they bought that they didn't have to buy, and other simple waste that is completely and wholly unnecessary.

I would have stayed home or taken a short local trip, saved, and gone on a larger trip the next year.

There may be mitigating circumstances that I know nothing about, but, unless your sister is independently wealthy, you might want to pay her off THEN start saving. Just a thought. :)

Congratulations on getting rid of the rest of your debt. I'm sure it feels good.

Same here, i was in 500 last year, now i am at 35k. Cutting down my expenses alot lately, chipping away at it slowly..

I originally intended to do so... but my sister insists that I pay her off over the next year. But thnx ofr the tip anyways.
