Hey guys, remember that "threat" was never meant for us and our leaders know it. It was meant for their own people. Imagine we were going to war with a vastly superior alien force, but felt we needed to fight. What would WE tell our public and soldiers. Try this one on... Well were gonna get our butts kicked, and you are all going to die, but what the hell give it a shot. Yeah, you are going to get a lot of cooperation with that. What would really be said is- We are facing a difficult task ahead, but Americans have risen to the task before against great odds. We can do it again.- Now that would motivate people to stand behind their governments plans. All the Iranians are doing is the same. They all know they are going to die if it really happens.

At the time of the Gulf War i think I remember Iraq being touted as the fourth most capable army in the world and I recall my thoughts at the time being there is no fourth place; after third it's all just an ass kicking. I don't recall Iran being in the top 3.

well, if they have F-14s and F-16s, they're not THAT bad. Still, I doubt they have many of them, or that they are able to adequeately support them

Hmm purchased in 1976. I would love to see the avionics on that ancient piece of history. It shows they bought 140 of them. Of those I bet there are only about 10% flying, the rest were probably cannobolized to keep the rest flying. F-16 is a great aircract, but it still needs lots of TLC and spare parts.

You guys noticed the caption under the F-16 picture, right?

<< Drawing of IIAF F-16A over Yazd >>

There must be a reason they don't have a real picture.

Don't under estimate thos Phantoms though. They're known for holding together no matter how many bullets you put in them. Dunno about missles though. :)

This is nothing more than a political move within Iran to gain support for the gov by giving false statements to their people. The only confrontation they would have is if they use nuclear warheads or if they confront us on the front line. I hardly doubt they would do either because I honestly feel we would quish (sp?) them like a bug :)

My guess is that many big American companies spend more a year in advertising than Iran spends on their military in a year. I saw some statistics and our military budget is more a year the the next 9 highest military budgets. Iran was not in the top 10 if I am not mistaken.

Calm down Pers. Thes BBS is full of @ssholes. But there's nothing you can do about it and if you really get that pissed from reading somebodies post(reasonable or not) maybe you need to take a few minutes away from AT. ;) The real life is full of a lot of @ssholes too and if you go off on them like you did here, then you will never progress beyond them. You got to live with it and be better than them.

There's a tip in life for ya... :)

<< BTW, it wasn't that they were so hairy(being rather furry myself I haven't much room to talk), it was more like they'd pack themselves in there like sardines. >>

Hahahaha. Persians have a lot of love and like to be close and snugly with eachother. ;)
>>

LOL! The sheer concentration of B.O. would likely be described by the CIA as a chemical weapons program...

Pers: Please tell us you're smart enough to realize that when we talk about "turning Iran into a parking lot", we really don't want to kill millions of Iranians.. Just the hardliners in the government (pretty much anyone with "Ayatollah" or "Mullah" in their name/title) who stir up such hatred and fanaticism. Saber rattling is just that: saber rattling.

<< b0mbrman: lol... ok yes i am american first. I love this country more than any other country. However, sometimes a small number of its citizens make the rest of us look stupid/bad/ignorant. Unfortunately one of these citizens is our president. :Q I always knew the guy was a bit on the stupid side, but why did he hve to compare north korea, iraq and iran to the Axis?!?!?!?

Anyway, comments made about blowing up an entire region on this planet is just as disgusting as the Palestinians parading to the death of our fellow citizens. People need to realize that middle easterners find these comments just as amusing as Americans did the Palestinians celebration. Yeah, it sucked. I try never to argue with anyone, instead i prefer to discuss issues. But when such immature remarks are made about middle eastern hair growth patterns, i can't help but stoop to the levels of the idiots using this to justify blowing them up.

I feel like sometimes i need to remind americans (that small group of idiots) that we are ALL human. I feel that i must remind them that an American's life is no more important than an asian's, european's, latino's, or middle easterner's life, so long as they are equally innocent. If we could see past all the "hair" and stuff, maybe we can realize taht us bombing the middle east and making the rest of iran a "parking lot" (baffled2) would be exactly what the terrorists did to us. I don't see how all this violence solves anything, other than feeding the hate for many future generations to come. If we were to use our mouths more wisely through our public figures (unfortunately, bush is a moron), we wouldn't recieve such negative feedback from other countries. To continue to use violence and war as a means to ease the flames of hate would only cause 2nd generation americans who lived much of their lives as patriots turn to anti-american anarchists. Personally i wouldn't appreciate seeing america (the country i love) blow up the remaining family i have in the middle east, because they want more freakin oil! i don't know, call me selfish?

Maybe it's cause i am a pacifist? But my views are what they are, and will remain to be so.

Pers: I thought this was a good post. It doesn't matter that you're 16, i think you expressed your views in a mature manner and hopefully some people will think twice before they post crap that lacks merit.

At what age do you suddenly know more than dick, making your opinion worth more than squat? At least give the guy the courtesy of a counterargument. Cut the ad hominem and tell him why he's wrong... if you can.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember the stat as being "the fourth largest" as opposed to "the fourth most capable". I remember watching one of those Desert Storm documentaries a few months back ("Inside the Kill Box", I believe, or maybe one of the other ones) where they were talking about US ground troops breaking through the "earthen berms" and advancing toward Iraqi tank positions. The commentator (retired officer type) was talking about how the Iraqis had all kinds of equipment, but the people manning the artillery were poorly trained and couldn't shoot worth a darn. Plus, their morale was so bad, towards the end of it they were surrendering to unmanned drones :) (after a couple of months worth of sheer hell dropped on them by the US Air Force, it's no surprise their morale plummeted...)

<< already the US has some crazy weapons like incredibly accurate wa >>

Would that be the one that hit the chinese embassy, or the ones that had mistaken the redcross building for military bases. LOL!

You americans are utter morons, from the kid who goes into school with a gun and starts shooting, right upto the president who paid his way through education.

Whens the last time you saw these middle eastern people wreaking havoc in the UK or other european locations. We know how to handle things over here, without getting into a pissing contest with terrorists. You know they will win everytime. You think just because you've spent billions disturbing dust in Afghanistan and killing nearly twice as many civillians as the WTC death toll and then chanted USA! USA! a few times and locked the rest of them in outdoor cages, you've won? Hell no! theres always gonna be more of those guys, and if we're clever enough, we seem to be at the moment, they'll still ignore us and go for the US again and again and so on.

Also, as long as you've got your collective tongues in the Oil Sheikhs' asses, you won't be able to touch them. Also, why should a country that has used weapons of mass destruction such as the daisy cutter on innocent civilians in two seperate wars, not to mention the use of Atomic devices on an innocent population, and will not allow international committies for biological weapons report on their biological weapons to protect 'patents', be "upset" that other countries want similar things too. They say, its because those countires are likely to use them... and Amercias never used them? LOL!

Infact the US is never concerned when fellow associates massacre people, but get upset when a "rogue nation" steps on an ant. God forbid I feel sorry the next time some wacko targets USA.

No intelligent rational person believes ANY second or third world army count beat the US military in a stand up fight. The question of victory really revolves around the focus of the mission and the commitment of our leaders.

Look what hapened in Vietnam

Look what happened in Somalia

Look what happened in the Gulf War

The Iranian f-tard who says his military might be ready could be right. It's just that we might give up as soon as one US life is lost where as they would keep throwing their youth at our guided missles.....

Adding to what I just said, I will reference the afore mentioned casualty figures:

~15000 dead Iraqis
18 dean UN troops.

We kicked their ass like noone got their ass kicked before.

The problem is, who is the current leader of IRAQ?

Not only does the US have tons of highly trained troops/pilots/whatever, they have learned from their mistakes (vietnam, somalia), look how they raped saddam, look how the taliban was raped and that was only because of long range missles, if enemy fighter planes got near US battle ships, they would be swatted like flies.

<< Wow! did you think that up all by you self? or did you need help from your psychotherapist? >>

I'll assume you were talking to me. Normally the way it is done is that you cut and paste something out of the persons post that you are talking to, that way they know you are talking to them. Much the same way that you got your previous post out of whatever left-wing, America hating, European rag you're reading. Tell me, is your current level of mental retardation genetic or has it come after a lifetime of practice?

ArbitrarilyInsane?????????????? More like Certifiably..........;)

You talk so big...........but lack the intestinal fortitude to even divuldge your own location! Tell us, what exactly do you have to brag about in your own country.......whichever it is????? I'm sure you could be obliged to learn of your own mistakes and blunders from others..........if you would even truthfully list your location..........;)

CertifiablyInsane -

Are you from France, where they prevent terrorism by letting them in and protecting them?
Are you from Spain or Ireland were the terrorists are home grown?
Are you from England where bombs go off weekly?
Are you from Switzerland where they only let non-whites in to clean their homes?
Are you from Germany where they let Israeli olympians get slaughtered in their rooms?

Where, pray tell, are you from so we may bask in your terrorist free glow?
