I would think that has more to do with the drivers of the cars since Scion owners are younger than the car being bad since it's just a Toyota so if Scion is bad then Toyota must be the same. Younger owners would obviously beat on their cars more than older people.

Exactly. Many of the companies that do any type of reliability ratings base the system on how many services are needed per car. Young owners without a doubt are most likely to ignore services, drive recklessly, and of course...blame it on the car.

Well, ignoring your ageist remarks entirely. You are claiming that scions probably have bad reliability ratings because they are not driven within a window of usage, and to go out of that window makes the cars unreliable? Sounds like the makings of a conspiracy theory whereas toyota made a brand that would entice owners who would bring down the toyota image.

I don't think it has to do with abuse..it has to do with crappy build quality. Notice how Porsche is very high on that last? It's nothing but a high performance car that is driven hard. I realize not all of them are, but not all Scions are also.

I borrowed my friend's Scion tC for 3 months. The mileage was terrible! It was marginally better at 20MPG than my old G35 at 18MPG. It was my friend's car so I never beat on it. I can't under stand how that small and weak of a car could get such terrible mileage.
