Laughing? LOL no offense at all, but you'll be the one driving a Yaris. If it makes you happy and you enjoy it that is fine...drive along =) But to people who enjoy driving the price difference in giving up a fuel efficient car for something that is pleasurable is easily worth the cost.
Of course, the people driving 15 mpg monstrosities on the road simply to take kids to schools and pick up groceries will probably feel the pinch....but I'm sure they have the $$ to handle it anyways...
We also like running over little cars and saying, what was that?

Geez...my dad has the same car (07 v4) and he gets probably 28-30. He also doesn"t drive it fast or anything

I would think that has more to do with the drivers of the cars since Scion owners are younger than the car being bad since it's just a Toyota so if Scion is bad then Toyota must be the same. Younger owners would obviously beat on their cars more than older people.
Exactly. Many of the companies that do any type of reliability ratings base the system on how many services are needed per car. Young owners without a doubt are most likely to ignore services, drive recklessly, and of course...blame it on the car.
LOL
"on how many services are needed per car"
"ignore services"
Wait, so it's based on the services that young people don't get? Nice job there.
I don't think it has to do with abuse..it has to do with crappy build quality. Notice how Porsche is very high on that last? It's nothing but a high performance car that is driven hard. I realize not all of them are, but not all Scions are also.

Sorry that I have to fucking spell it out to you. Young people are MORE likely to need extra supplementary services to fix problems caused by abusive driving and LESS likely to address common maintenance issues. This means that when it comes around to the oil and tire change they blow it off as long as their car still runs. When the tranny blows thats an issue they'll have to replace then and there. Plus on a side note, I find it hard to believe that god damn Buick is number fucking one out of all those.

Somehow, I am unable to feel sympathetic to your plight seeing as how...you are in Hawaii!

I didn't care for the original xBs but I've grown to like them now that Toyota has put some curves into them.

I don't buy that stereotype. For every kid who abuses their car, their is some middle-aged person who drives with the oil light for 6 months before bringing it in for service. What about the parent who drives 30,000 miles in the city every year for errands and such? Your argument is based on illogical sterotypes and assumptions.
