The vicious attack at a Baltimore McDonald’s has resulted in charges being filed against the two attackers and one of their names has been released.
Police arrested 18-year-old Teonna Monae Brown and charged her with one count of first-degree assault and two counts of second-degree assault. The 14-year-old attacker has also been charged but she will be treated as a juvenile, according to a report by CBS Baltimore.
The victim is a transgendered person by the name of Chrissy Lee Polis, who said the fight started when she was in the bathroom.
“I went to go use the bathroom. Come back out, the girl spit in my face, said, `Are you trying to talk to my man?’ Polis told NBC Baltimore. “I said, `No, I didn’t even know that was your man at all.’ The other girl came up, spit in my face, then they started ripping my hair, throwing me on the floor.”
Polis told cameras that she felt that the girls were just looking for a fight that night.
Regarding the employee who took the video, 22-year-old Vernon Hackett, McDonald’s released a statement via their Twitter page:
“Action has been taken, and the crew member who made the video is no longer employed by this organization.”
Polis wanted to thank the elderly woman who stopped the attack while several employees laughed and watched the incident, “If it wasn’t for her, I probably would have had the seizure and they probably would have kept on continuing hurting me even more,” said Polis.
No charges have been filed as a hate crime, but advocacy groups like Equality Maryland are saying the crime should be treated that way.
“They kicked me in my face; they really hurt me really bad and I’m just afraid to go outside now because of stuff like this,” said the victim.
