I am wondering why they did that.
It shouldn't affect it, maybe a bit or two.
You try to minimize extra connections though in electronics.

Is this the Dish 622 receiver? I just got mine installed yesterday, and same thing, and I was wondering same as you
But after watching some stuff last night, I can't see how there'd be much difference.

DVD player might only do 480p through component, that's how I have mine hooked up.

You also may need to put it on an HD enabled component input.
They have so/so thick component cables at walmart made by Phillips, I use them and have no problem and I couldn't really tell you if they have noise.
