Give it another day or two, he could just be busy or might feel slightly weird. Give him some time to get off of whatever might be bugging him.

If by Friday he's not talking to you, then it's time to give up.

original posts were before the weekend. My (uneducated) guess is that it was one of those "thrill of the chase" things. You're a smart guy (OP) I'm sure you know when to move on.
