I did some research and I found that the model PPK you are looking at is actually seems to run over $1000 for a working model in the US.

New manufacture PPKs are around $500 and up, depending on model.

but still, buying a deactivated gun to "play with" for $600 is beyond nuts imo.

Fair enough, I get that it's not everyone's cup of tea.

OK that's good info, looks like they aren't too overpriced then, thanks dude :)

Any suggestions on a cheap gun?

The one on the site you linked is a 1962 7.65mm (.32 ACP). Not sure if it's a rare model or whatever, but it seems they were German issue. So older military arms can be worth more, depending on how many were made.

OK cool, I was thinking that, I like Colt 1911 (think that's what they are called) but they seem bloody expensive, also I was quite hoping I could buy some bits for it, change sights or change grips etc, which I imagine is difficult for older stuff.

OK cool, so £145 - $231 is not a bad price then! :)

Can you think of a cheap pistol that I might like?

if you wanted a working one, i'm sure we could suggest lots of stuff. as you're getting a deactivated one, the only thing that is going to matter is what you think looks good or cool or whatever.

you won't have to worry about buying ammo, recoil, how it feels when you shoot it, etc...

True enough, but I probably will buy some fake ammo to load it up with, I'd like something that feels good in the hand maybe I could get a suppressor for it or a grip or some sights etc etc, so anything that might fit that criteria to recommend? Also something that you think looks cool.

completely depends on the gun. I'd be willing to bet that you'd find way more accessories for a 1911 than a PPK.

so this is basically going to be like your barbie doll?

Exactly! A man's barbie doll, good description.

a 1911 would be my perfect one I think, but most of the ones I can find are WWII / earlier ones, and it makes them rare and expensive, like £850 kind of expensive D: what modern versions are there that are cheap?

The fuck? Are you serious? Fake ammo too? And a suppressor to suppress the fake report? I'm out, this is a new low in HAL9000's trolling career. FFS!

:( It's just a toy nothing more.

I suppose you guys can't get it because you live with guns, in the UK where there are no guns replica guns are cool, deactivated real guns are cooler. My friends think it would be fun. So do I

Do you honestly think he's serious?

The quote below removed any doubt. I'm out of this thread. TROLL9000 is trollin'

How about a lightsaber?

They make really good ones for several hundred dollars.
