Went to the range Friday after work and got in 50 rounds. Man, I love shooting the glock 19. Such a simple yet efficient gun and it looks good too. How long can you wait after shooting a gun to when you should clean it. Maximum of 24 hours.. 72 hours? Whats acceptable if you can't immediately clean your weapon after firing it?

whenever you get around to it or after your next couple of range trips. A glock can be abused pretty darn bad and still run. If it's a Gen 4 I'd be putting a lot more downrange before I trusted it though. If it's a Gen 3 I wouldn't worry about it. When you do clean it just don't over lube it. Glocks only need a very very small amount on the four contact points.

1. Register incoming transfer with receiving FFL. Some have a web-form on their site, otherwise you can call and they'll take the info over the phone/in person. It's usually just name, expected arrival date, make and model of firearm, contact info.

2. Make purchase, inform seller to ship to receiving FFL's address.

3. Receiving FFL should contact you when shipment arrives, assuming you don't have tracking info from seller.

4. Go to receiving FFL and pay transfer fee, go through NICS check (have two forms of ID with your name and address. Bills, driver's licence, etc. Exact requirements should be provided by receiving FFL), sign some forms, take home firearm and fondle for hours.

In Indiana he'll oly need a drivers license.

Picked this up today after a 2 month wait, going to shoot it tomorrow morning.

Why the two month wait if you dont mind me asking? My dad actually just got the Colt 6920. We swapped out the handguard for a magpul MOE one with a rail and afg2 on the bottom. Pretty slick looking gun thats for sure!



As for me...well i got to go home for a weekend! So what better thing to do than spend one day pretty much doing gun stuff. Well and sorting all the crap i'd bought online. Figure ill start with the non-actual-gun stuff

And ammo...man i got a lot more than i realized haha.
7500 rounds of federal bulk 22 (since it works perfect in both my sig 22's)
1000 rounds of 147grain 9mm (for shooting suppressed)
500 rounds of 357mag (since i was out of factory plinking ammo)
500 rounds of BVAC 10mm (for the new glock20)
250 rounds of 44mag for the new S&W 44mag
1000 rounds of .223 for the newly built AR.

Then got some new optics!

AIM 2.5-10X40 Illuminated Tactical Quick Release Mil-Dot Scope ($80)
Wanted a smaller more compact scope for my sig 522 so got this. The quick release is nice and holds it firmly on when engaged. Not the best optic in the world for it works. Might try it out on the 223 as well and see.

Nikon ProStaff 3-9 x 40 Black Matte Riflescope (BDC)
Got this on sale with a rebate. Its nice. A lot clearer over the AIM. But also a lot bigger so i have ot remove the rear sight on the 522 for it to fit. Ill probably use it more on the AR or on another rifle when i finally get one 🙂

Nice holographic red dot. Havent gotten to fire it yet but mounted it and it was nice just that way. Only mounted it on my AR but im sure it would work with the 522 as well. it cowitnesses perfect with the front sight post on my AR



And finally guns!

I built myself an AR. It was fun and my first time doing it. Bought a upper (minus charging handle and BCG). Took around 2 hours to assemble which isnt bad since i had no idea what i was doing when i started!

SAA stripped lower
PSA MOE lower parts kit (comes with MOE grip, trigger guard, and stock)
PSA 16" 1/7 twist upper
m16 full auto BCG
generic charging handle
Bought the magpul MOE handguard as well (with rail and afg2 on the bottom)

Was fun to put it all together and know I did it. Still havent fired it (limited on time this weekend so only hit the pistol range) but it should be fun!


Glock20
My first glock and honestly probably my only. Ive held glocks before and i got the same sort of impression on it when i held this one. It felt cheap and the grip was only ok. But as the only real option for a sub 500 dollar 10mm i still went with it. It just looks so cheap to me. Like the slide and the frame arent solid theres a tiny slit you can see through (like 1/32 of an inch nothing major). Still glad i did get it! The 10mm is a fun round to shoot thats for sure! The glock itself i didnt care for the grips after shooting it. They werent to comfortable in my mind but ill pick up some after market ones or just deal with it. The trigger felt just fine to me. DA was heavy and SA felt just fine and broke when i expected it to. Not the smoothest or best but its just fine in my mind. My biggest grips now that i own it.....the slide release is freaking small. Compared to my sig 226 and even the mosquito the glock was hard for me to use the slide release. I honestly just racked the slide to unlock the slide instead of using the slide release. Field stripping the gun is also annoying in my mind. I hate having to try to hold the slide back ~1 inch then try to pull down on the stupid nobs on each side. But im sure ill get used to that. Definitely not as easy to breakdown as my 226 (or any similar gun with the same method as the 226 for that matter)

The 10mm round itself though...kicks a lot more than a 40 (from my dads full size M&P40) and a lot more than my 357 (S&W 19-3). Actually with the rounds i had purchased (bvac for both) the 10mm was pretty much on par recoil wise with my new 44mag. Going to be fun to load up some hotter rounds for myself with it!



And lastly i got a S&W 629 44mag.
Always wanted one so i finally got around to getting it. It fits my hand great and felt great shooting it. Not much to say i think its a wonderful gun but i also love revolvers. SA is light which i love on a revolver but the trigger isnt quite as nice as on my 19-3. Still a great gun.

The funny thing is i shot the 10mm first and was thinking wow the 44mag should be a bit worse recoil wise. Well fired a round of 44mag and nope it was the same if not even a bit less due to longer barrel and weight of the S&W. Still was tons of fun to shoot!

Incase you cant tell which is which... 44mag is upper right, 19-3 is right below it. Glock 20 is upper left. Sig 226 is lower left. And the Sig Mosquito is in the middle.

Also the ammo is all the calibers i shoot (minus shotgun). From left to right its 22lr, 9mm, 10mm, 357mag, 44mag, 223.

And now i go back to California and to no guns till the end of the year. But i should be coming home to my two suppressors! And then i can order the FN FNP 45 tactical that ive been wanting and also my 1911 when i figure out which one i want.

I ordered it from an independent FFL, and that was his wait time from the distributor. It worked out well for me though, we just recently refi'd the house and were able to skip a few mortgage payments, so the money lined up with the availability of the gun nicely. 🙂

Picked it up for $1600 and change with a Blackhawk soft sided bag and 2 p-mags. (My state usually dings you for internet purchases anyway...)

Tolerances seem as close to perfect as possible. No movement, yet parts still glide when and where they're supposed to. It chewed through 100 rounds of badly metered Varget reloads last night, and 200 H335 reloads tonight with "0" hiccups. (Well, a shell bounced back and hit my wife in the arm...so, *she* was upset...:whiste🙂

The guys at the range let me burn through a few mags to get some of the shipping grease to burn off, and it seemed to work. When we got home, I just popped the BCG out, soaked and toothbrushed the parts, and little work with Hoppes and q-tips, then boresnaked the barrel and it's all good.

Will hopefully get to go to an outdoor range next weekend where I'll get to stretch it out a bit. Still running iron sights on it, until I see something that strikes my fancy.

Ahhh gotcha. Was just curious since the local gun store had a few different model colts (6920 and 6940's) so wasnt sure if there was a reason other than FFL 🙂

Yeah i was impressed with my dads 6920. Nicely made rifles thats for sure! We even swapped over my upper onto the colt lower and it was still a nice tight fit. (he wanted ot try the afg2 before buying on himself).

Well its a double edged blade. Yeah it means being away from home with no guns for me for 3 more months. But it also means i come home and can spend another 3-4k on more guns if i so choose haha. Least i got to go home for a weekend and shoot. I dont know if i could go 6 months straight with no shooting.

And glad you had fun shooting it! Definitely got to work on the iron sights before getting optics IMO. Its something i need to focus on as well.

If you need PMAGs they are on sale all over the internet right now for ~10 bucks for non window and ~13 for the windowed one.



And as for the shell coming and hitting her arm.....dont ever let her stand next to someone shooting a sig 556 🙂 That thing flings shells out. As for me i did take a casing to the eye at the range. Ejected fine but bounce off the side wall and right back into my safety glasses. >.<

Haha, well, my situation is changing a bit. Work has kinda slowed a bit and I decided maybe $1100-1200 for a first handgun is kinda crazy. In addition, the CZs are currently seemingly more popular and less prevalent than the SIGs, so I could always sell it easily. This way I could get my LTCH and many, many bullets. 🙂

It's black, not SS, which bothers me but I also kinda like the black. So I dunno.

Honestly, it's like a car. Unless it's a war relic, it loses value VERY fast. Only my Garand and 1903 are keeping value, and that is because they are relics. My Mk14 gained value, by my doing work to it, but overall if I'd sell, it'd be at a loss in my total costs.

All in all, just buy a gun you like. And yes, over 900 for a handgun is insane. I did it for my CCO, and ONLY because I knew I wanted a top of the line 1911.

I highly doubt this. If anything, it's inflation or the typical "we're scare of guns being illegal" crap around election time. They do NOT gain value...

It depends on what you're buying and what you consider losing value. Glocks and M&Ps and the like stay around 450 used. So, they don't really lose value. Desert eagles went from 800-900 to 1300-1400 last year. Springfield professional 1911's seem to have an easy time getting around 3k. They seem to hold value better than the other custom guns in that range.

Guns usually will depreciate to a certain level when they go from new to used and just kind of stick around there.

Accessories seem to lose value like no other. Things like ammo and components to create ammo though just stay where they are.

Lots of companies make great rifles, but Colt checks all the boxes and delivers a quality rifle for a grand with the 6920.

It obviously depends on the gun and the condition, but guns definitely hold their value for a much longer period of time than cars, electronics, etc.

The main reason being, a 30 year old car is drastically different in looks / fit / function than something from today, while a 30 year old gun is mostly the same. That mostly stays true if you extend it out to 100 years (1911 vs. a Model T).

Is it extremely difficult to change the sights on a handgun? Are special tools requiresd?

Front sight varies depending on the gun but it's usually pretty easy. For the rear sight you are going to need a sight pusher from most. Spend the money and get a good one, ~$100.
