That's silly though; they're assuming everything is SAAMI? I can load 357 to penetrate better than 44 if I want to. My 41mag has some hand loads that make my 44 feel weak. I use those loads when carrying in bear country...
I honestly agree with Merad: if your range cannot handle some of these loads, redo the range. A range near me (West Coast Armory) banned me from my membership (and refunded, thankfully) because I shot a M1A there with mil-spec 7.62 ammo (surplus rounds from Lake City.) They claimed it was too loud. Investigation late said that in fact their steel traps couldn't handle 7.62 and they actually had a round go out the back of the range. IMO, they should have been shut down for that right away.
Wades USED to be built to handle .50BMG with the berm. Now they have steel traps that can do at most 7.62 (so they say.) They banned 30-06, DESPITE my showing them that my loads were WWII accurate. (I had a hell of a pissing match with the rangemaster. Claimed hot 30-06 loads don't harm a garand - which they do - they warp the operating rod over time. WWII loads are WAY less powerful than the hottest 7.62 rounds I could find.)

On a different topic, does anyone have experience with repairing stocks? I have a Yugo Mauser (it's a 98/48, so it's a reworked German Mauser of unknown origin) where the stock has a crack forming behind the magazine going back. It happened because the recoil lug slowly was beaten backwards, and the wood in front of the trigger ended up bearing load when it wasn't meant to.
I'm tempted to just inlet the stock to remove the improper contact point at the magazine, and glue the crack. Is this a sound repair? Should I place bedding material around the recoil lug?
