They play commericals all the time down there. Never made it there but heard their commercials everyday while i was down there for work. Interesting idea thats for sure. Im sure they have all the jigs and things so can bang out a lower pretty dang quick. Previously id have said not worth it since you could get a lower for 80 bucks but with them being 250+ and hard to find might not be a bad deal now a days.

It isn't what I do, it's what I didn't do: get married or have kids.

Haha fair enough. I am at the point in my life where either I get on the kid train or off. And honestly it is hard to justify the cost of children. Life is so much easier not having to pay for them. But I also understand life rewards that are non-monetary from reproducing.

Did anyone pick up anything on Friday Buyday?

Well, technically, everyday is buyday for me. But here's my pickup:

iUzLtmP.jpg

It's an H&R P-cubed with a Knoxx NRS stock/forend. 18.5" barrel, 5+1, made in China 870 clone made by a Remington subsidiary. I paid $215 for the gun/stock combo brand new. Beats paying $600+ for this: http://www.gandermountain.com/modpe...ctical-Blackhawk-Spec-Ops-II-Shotgun&i=618600

Just FYI for anyone thinking about getting a Knoxx NRS stock for their 870/clone:

You need a long 3/16th ball-head allen wrench to attach the stock, and the forend is a very tight fit (I had to use a mallet to seat it, but the other option is shaving away some of the plastic).

Also ordered 6 cases of 7.62x39 today for delivery next week.

I'll look into this. How does the machining work - I'm guessing I cannot PAY someone to mill it for me, I imagine I must use a milling machine and have a good program to run on the lower on my own?

I plan to look into this A LOT more, but would it be legal to have it milled to the M16 profile (as in, make it so it COULD accept parts to go full auto, but just not put them in limiting the gun to semi-auto to remain fully legal and get some bragging rights?)

Nice buy. I'm also impressed you found 6 cases of 7.62 to order for immediate shipping, that seems like quite the find. The only 7.62x39 I know in stock right now is the Hersters stuff at Cabelas for 30 cents a round. If I did not already have 2k coming I would order more but I just don't have the need.

I don't have a need either, but the local supply is so dried up that it makes for great trade fodder. All the LGS are selling it for $400-$450 per case. Walmart is occasionally getting Tula on their trucks for ~$5/box, but all the stores in my area now have the new corporate memo posted about a 3 box limit. That makes buying a case of anything for a decent price extremely difficult.

Yes, you have to do the actual work for it to not be serialized. For the later your walking a fine line. Constructive intent can be an expensive lesson.

So that's a Chinese knockoff of an 870?

Ares website under the FAQ states they wont help make any illegal item or help with full auto. I would bet money all they do is set up the machines for you and have you press the on button. To expensive of machines to let anyone just set them up. Let alone they use 80% jigs to finish which makes it easy.

At one point i'd actually looked into doing 80% lowers for myself at home. With a jig its pretty straight forward and easy. I just decided i didnt want to invest the money or time in the machinery. Of course that was when an 80% lower was like 20-30 bucks vs a complete one being 70-80. Now it might be worth it

Federal HST is a nasty round. You can't really go wrong with any of the big three (HST, Gold Dot, Ranger T), but I hear about more people switching to HST than switching away from it.

Yup, from what I hear as well. I switched from Hydrashoks to HSTs.

For those needing .380 acp ammo there is this deal right now.

http://www.targetsportsusa.com/p-35...to-95-grain-full-metal-jacket-ammunition.aspx

Full brass cased ammo. This is NOT the same junk wolf ammo that is normally out there. This is their better stuff. Also it's only $0.207 a round. Absolutely fantastic for 1680 rounds for $348.50 shipped. Yep free shipping. Only thing is waiting a few weeks to get it in. Hell this is arguably the best price this has been at in a LONG time, let alone the current climate for ammo.

Heh. I wonder as to the wisdom of posting pics of what someone owns. It is not inconceivable that many here are soon to be criminals.
The reason I don't put gun or NRA stickers on my vehicles. Don't need anyone following me home and breaking in when I am away.

How much are HSTs? Are they in stock online anywhere? Figure one box is more than enough for me.

No it isn't. You should get AT LEAST 2 boxes. Put 1 box through your gun at the range with hopefully no malfunctions. Then you can keep the other box for home use. Then every few months, put a magazine worth through your gun to make sure it still likes it.

Sometimes guns are finicky, especially with hallow points. The different bullet shapes give it a chance to catch on something during chambering compared to fmj/ball ammunition.

not only that but the looney bins who don't like the NRA or guns might damage your car out of spite.

It would be cool if they'd let me make one of these lowers:

inbok0.jpg

Anywhere could do that. Just have to have the lower and take it to engraving place. Some forums I visit have had their logos on lowers before. Once they come back down in price I might just get one with something to make fun of the 2012 awb scare :)

As for how much self defense ammo everyone needs....everyone will have opinions. I shoot 50 rounds of it through my gun before it becomes carry ammo. The gun itself goes through 500 rounds before I'd carry it (of any ammo not specific to hollow points). After those two are met, that ammo can last me years. Only time I change it is when I change ammo types for range trips. And then each round is cycled through the gun to unload the mag. Hell I have 500 rounds of ranger ammo that'll probably last 20 year's.

But I have never used an ammo then magically had the same ammo give me problems months or years later either. Assuming same lot or least year. Ammo from 10 years ago and the same bought today could be slightly different

Oh man, I couldn't do that. I support American manufacturers in the last great American industry, guns!!! :p

We may not make stuff like we used to, but damn it we can make guns!
People buy imported guns all the time. Austrian Glocks, German Sigs/HKs, Russian Saigas, etc.

Some of my guns are all-American, like my Troy Carbine and Ruger Alaskan, some aren't.
