Huh? I have big hands and found xd45 only one to fit nice. My Sig 220 (in 45) and 226 (in 40 and 9mm) are way too small. Para makes a 1911 with with 14rds I like too but it's too heavy IMO.

Do you use this grip?

I never said the size of the firearm was an issue. But when I held the XD as such, my left thumb would be on the takedown lever and rub. Wearing gloves alleviated that, but I don't always wear gloves.

I bought the same gun but in 9mm as my first about 2 months ago. I was just at the range with it today. I've put 380 rounds through it so far.

Still fighting the low and left problem. My biggest problem is my bifocals. I can't focus on the sights.

Took my wife with me two Saturday's back. She's hooked. She's a better shot than me too. We're looking for something in a small revolver for her. She had problems racking the slide.

Edit: Forgot this.

My wife had problems with racking also at first but with time she got it.

I'm not. I'm too lazy. But it would be funny to watch everyone cry about my finger being on the trigger of a gun that couldn't possibly be fired in any way.

pontifex - it is about muscle memory and just plain habits. i have been shooting over 30yrs and was taught this way. no matter what type of firearm i pick up regardless of what condition, even unassembled, it is always w/ the trigger finger along the side, never near the trigger. you can make fun if you want but i am not going to have a ad, period.

call me overly cautious but i also don't chamber on guns unless in a safe direction and am especially careful w/ firearms w/ a floating firing pin unless pointed in a safe direction - i don't want to be the one in a million that gets unlucky and happens to get a box of ammo that has light, but still in spec primer.

Look at my post before this one.
Learn to understand that people are capable of handling firearms safely without following the "bible of safety" so often quoted.
I say again. How can I use snap caps if I'm in the mindset that I will destroy whatever my firearm is pointed at, even though I know it is only loaded with a snap cap?

The rules of firearm safety apply to everyone obviously, but so does common sense. Which really does seem to be lacking in a lot of firearms owners. They treat everything as black and white, when the situation is not black and white.

Jeebus, y'all sure did drag him over the coals.....

Anywho, nice piece. I have one like it and love it. My favorite is old reliable, a Glock 29 for daily concealed carry. A lot of us have been emailing Springfield Engineers trying to convince them to produce a 10mm version. That would be awesome.

hi points are fine.. i have put 50,000 rounds through my gun range glock (i dont put much rounds through the ones i carry) and about same amount through a hi-point both guns have had 0 ftf the glocks spring did wear out and needed new one but some fatso was handing it so might have been user error i wasnt watching.. they both have lifetime warranty so that says something.. the only bad part about hi-point is it weights about 5 pounds instead of 1.2 pounds that my carry glock has..

40 is a good round but .357 sig is even better.. i dropped .357 sig barrels in my .40 glocks and they are very accurate and tight groups..

I work security at a club and tossed out a black guy the other day. He wasn't cooperating so I head butted him in the nose. That got him moving just fine. No weapon required.

More importantly as I don't plan to carry daily, I plan to be in a position to protect my family should two crackheads decide to break in and attempt to tie them up rape them and burn the house down.

and for the record to those still going off about the triggerI really don't care at all what you think....I didn't pick up the gun with my finger in the trigger guard. As said before I put my finger inside the trigger guard area deliberately for the picture Knowing full well there was a 0% chance the weapon could be fired. The weapon has never been loaded or fired. Maybe I'll go home today and take a pic of me holding it in an hero position. That should really get you riled up.

nice gun. i'm a sucker for glocks, but i can understand that everyone is different. $600+ seems a little high. I got my glock 23 new for just under $400.

i'm gonna see how well my wife handles it. i'm going to let her use it for her CCW course.

I have about 5 sigs but my xd45 is my fav for half price...great choice.

I'm assuming you have a P220...you like the xd45 better? I have not shot a 45 caliber version of the xd...but I really love my P220. I'd be really impressed if the xd45 shot better.

Question: What ammo brand(s) should I stay away from?

EDIT: for range use not self defense.

i've found that winchester white box is kind of dirty but shoots well. i've done really well with CCI blazer (i don't reload). i've put thousands of rounds through my glock .40 and have never had one jam/misfire.

my suggestion is to buy a box of a few different brands and see what shoots well for you.

ya if you have walmart near you get the WWB (winchester white box) it is dirty but not as dirty as others.. some of the aluminum cases are more prone to splitting and even more dirty. unless you buy them 1000 at a time online prob wont find better deal
