UPDATE FROM THE DEAD

So, as update 3 states she bails on me. This was now two weeks ago...

Last week. We were suppose to go out, she bails on me. Her excuse. She is moving out of her mom's house and been super busy and she lost my number. I buy it and say cool. No worries.

REWIND LAST TWO DAYS.

Thursday -> Friend and I always go to happy hour @ applebees, on Thursday. I ask her if she wants to go. She says she can't she has plans with her mom and roomate. I say fair enough. As i start to leave, she says. We can do friday night if you want. I say alright cool works... but in the back of my mind I am thinking, please she will bail on you again...

Friday -> We talk... We agree that 7:30 is a good time. We get off early from work 1-ish... She has to stay, so we start chatting I look @ the watch and its already 3pm. I am like wow. I say goodbye and tell her i will see her tonight.

7:30 rolls around... no call... Rant to my friend that women == teh suck; So, i go roll and buy the aviator and some film for my slr. I come back its 8:10 still no call on the cell. I am a little vexed, so I go and play some GT4.

After... a few greuling matches of of the nissan z race... I look @ my watch... 8:35. I say wow not even a courtesy call saying sorry I had to bail on you. So I start race five on the nissan z event. Second lap, door bell rings. I don't answer it. It rings again, I go answer it and it is the receptionist. She apologizes for being late and apologizes for leaving my number again on her desk. She said "I figure you would be here cause you said you really had no plans." So she asks if I still want to go out.
I say sure, we head out to applebees spend 1:30 there chatting and talking then go to the movies. We watch the longest mile. She laughs and enjoys the movie. We talk on the way back to my place. Get home around 1:30am. She is pretty tired. This is when the usual, blah good time blah blah. I get out of my car, and she gets out and says she will call me later this weekend. I asked her i thought you lost my number. She says "Well, i found it and its @ my house." I am thinking??? Why didnt you call to say you were going to be late. But, I say nothing and let her go. Decided to say fvck it no kiss or anything. Let her ponder why I didn't make the move.

So after talking to my friend about this... he lays out this scenario. The only reason she went out with me is because she knows I am quitting in two weeks cause of this newly landed job I scored in DC. So now, she is not affraid of comitment or relationship. Which i guess is true. So, basically... I don't know. LOL!!!

CLIFF NOTES:

1) Bailed on Again
2) Ask her out... she suggests friday
3) We agree 7:30pm
4) 7:30 no call (her excuse lost first paper with number, left other paper with number @ work), no show
5) Play GT4
6) She shows up @ my door @ 8:40
7) Go out have fun
8) Get back at my place. She says she has my lost number found @ home.
9) Didn't make a move on her, cause I am now skeptical of her
10) Said she will call me
11) Consult friend... he says she now has no worries of commitment and just went out with you for pitty (landed a new job in DC, put in my two weeks)
12) teh suck!!!

UPDATE3: WOMEN!!!

So... after she has re-affirmed twice with me during the day and chat all day long. (she brings up tonight, not me)

15 minutes before we leave...

she says "Do you mind if we don't do tonight!!!, my nieces are coming over and I want to see them, blah blah blah!!!"

I respond "Sure, their family, enjoy time with them."

Her, "You sure you don't mind?"

I respond "Nah, it's no biggie!!!"

She then rattles about how she will be free tomorrow night blah blah blah... Oh you still need to comeover and blah blah blah...

I was like sure whatever. I then proceed to leave... she stops and says you must wait for me. So, i was like sure... Then we talk as we are leaving, and she has to run back in... I just get in my car and bounce...

jeez... :/ teh wierdness...

CLIFF NOTES:

1) Says we are on tonight twice
2) Cancels 15 minutes before
4) Says tomorrow
3) NO PROFIT!!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE2: So I didn't ask her out last week. Still didn't have enough balls to do so. We just continued talking more. We also began leaving @ the same time to race each other back home (not actual racing).

Earlier In The Morning - So, I ask her out to dinner and shopping. She said Yes!!!.

Afternoon - She bails... Her mom offered to pay for her to get her oil change for her car. She said, the only way she would pay is if she showed up when her mom was there. She asked if I cared, and I said no worries. She then, asked if tomorrow would be ok for dinner and shopping. She apologized again, and asked if I minded. I said no, but if I get a messed up tan due to not getting a fishermans hat it would be on her karma, :). Told her i needed to get a new hat for when i drive with my tops down. She then affrimed tomorrow.

So... i guess we shall see tomorrow.

CLIFF NOTES:

1) Ask Her Out - Dinner/Shopping - She says YES
2) She Bails - due to oil change - Says to move plans to Tuesday - I Agree
a) i think she bailed because she was kinda scrubbing it today @ work. maybe she wanted to look better???
3) Now waiting till tomorrow...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE: Couldn't ask her out today. Our T1 @ work was fried, so women were all up front talking all day long. On top of that, I found out she is 20  . I am 24, that almost is like robbing the cradle. Also... i found out she lives like 5 mins from my place. that is also disturbing, so maybe it really wasn't going all that out of her way to drop off my ring... I am still debating...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4 weeks ago we hired a new receptionist at our work.

Week 1 - I thought she was cute but really never talked to her. Just said "Good Morning" and "Have a great night". Some times I would just walk out with out saying anything.

Week 2 - I had to create some info brochures for my boss and she asked me to have the receptionist print them off on the photo printer at her desk. My boss needed 15 copies. So after I make the brochures and get the receptionist set up, I broke the ice and began talking to her. I left early that day cause of the printing but when I got home I logged on AIM and IM?ed the receptionist to make sure everything was going good with the printing. I kept her company while the stuff printed and then when it was done called it a night. Next day, she stops me when I come in and thanks me for keeping her company. Then we begin talking more and more when I ever I walk by.

Week 3 - We begin talking in the morning and evening and I find my self staying a few extra minutes every night just to talk to her. On Friday, when she was checking on everyone?s lunch order she asked why I didn?t order anything and I told her my diet and watching calories... etc... She then proceeds to still get me a fruit bowl from Panera and said it wouldn't kill me if I ate it. I asked her how much I owed her and she said no worries just a thank you would suffice.

Week 4 - I know she likes books because of our conversations so over the weekend I buy her a book mark as a thank you gift for the fruit cup. I leave it on her desk on Monday with a little note. After she gets in she tells me she loves it and it was extremely thought full.

Rest of the week we talk as normal morning, during the day, and after work.

Yesterday - We have a pool table at work. When I need a coding break I shoot pool. So I have this platinum thumb ring and I usually take it off to shoot pool. While playing one of the shipping guys I took off my ring and left on the window sill. I decided to leave early yesterday after showing her the ramifications of nuking DISCS in the microwave ( I let her borrow a DVD, and joked around about not nuking it in the microwave, and then showed her what would happen ). So after 20 minutes of being gone from the office I realize I left my ring on the window sill in the pool room. I call in and ask her if she could grab it and hold on to it till Monday. This is when she insists of not holding on to it but dropping it off @ my house. So, I said what ever she felt comfortable with and she rolls over and drops it off. When she gets over I invite her in and we begin talking and she ends up staying till like 9:15. She got up and left because she promised a friend they would have a girls night out. The kicker, I apologize for keeping her here 30 minutes into our conversation and she respond "Shut up!!! I have nothing else to do, and I am enjoying our conversation. So don't apologize"

So, now the question... do I ask her out on Monday?

CLIFF NOTES:

Week 1 - New receptionist hired, really don?t talk to her just Hi and Bye
Week 2 - Break ice and begin talking
Week 3 - Still talking but more often during day. She gets me lunch on Friday because she was concerned with my well being even when I told her I would be ok.
Week 4 - I get her a Thank you gift for the lunch and we still talk daily.
Yesterday - Leave platinum thumb ring @ work. She feels comfortable enough to come over my place and drop it off. I invite her in and we spend roughly 2:30 hours talking about clothes, college, etc.

Question - Ask her out on monday?

NO PICS!!!

Hmm, you never see a fox sh!t in his own borrough, I don't know if it's smart to date someone to work with. Of course since she's a lowly Receptionist maybe you should get to her before one of your supervisors do.

Damn this Acid is trippy!

just do it. worst thing thatcan happen is no so might as well(might want to see if your company prohibits employee dating though)
also, ask her out "as a friend" for the 1st date to see if you really hit it off again (maybe a movie, or lunch?)

Yea mon, you need to ask da chicka out now. Seriously, if she says no, oh well, buut the way things have been going that doesn't look too likely. If stuff goes south between you guys later that might make for some slightly awkward situations in the office, but nothing too terrible.

Good lucks dude.

Don't ask her out "as a friend." You don't want to fall into the friend category. I'm not sure what you meant when you said you talked about clothes, but be careful you don't become just a friend. Don't come on too strong but also make your intentions clear. However, dating someone you work with isn't the greatest idea, but hey, love can strike anywhere.

in anything like this, you have to make sure that you are normal...if you have visions of saving her from the world, that she *has* to be a virgin, she probably never had a boyfriend, etc....don't bother.

Now if she says no....big deal, it's cool...more than likely she just doesn't want to date at work (it makes things complicated if you end up with a psycho). No one is going to be like 'what a geek, he asked her out' instead if anything they are going to think you have some cojones...unless you look like someone from Revenge of the Nerds and she is banging, and you started the conversation with I think you and me are destined to be married one day....

If you are going to do it, the hard part is to get uninterrupted time with a receptionist....in some places it's easy, others you are fighting a phone call a second....bad time...wait until her lunch, even if you have to catch her heading to her car (don't stalk her car though...that is another story I heard once).

Always make sure you mention it's just a date. Make her feel comfortable that you are not going to be a freak at work. Tell her why you think it's her you'd like to take out.

The way I asked out a receptionist once (it was in my building but not my actual employer, but we shared common areas) was we kept passing...we talked a lot, short chit chat stuff (if you haven't talked to her DO NOT ASK HER OUT, if you don't know her name really DON'T ASK HER OUT :), mature chicks hate the guy that ask a number or a date prior to even getting her freaking name...they lump you into a class that just asks everyone or is desparate).

so that went on a while, we were both dating other people on and off, and that was a topic at times. Then things on movies and stuff....we both started getting on the 'well let me know if you ever want to hang out thing'...one day we somehow took it to the next level, went out that night...it was just dating though, can't say we fell in love or became ready/steady. Fun though, esp later on when other chicks knew I had gone out with another at work...got invited to more things which is always cool.

Anyway, in a lot of companies now 8 hour days really don't cut it.

I used to work 10-11 hour days (now about 9-10 but I am married), then after work was usually going out with others from work for a drink, food, see a show, whatever.

I dated mostly non-company people, but in the 5 years of working for one place I dated quite a few there. If a chick and I are a good match, I owe it to myself to explore it.

I didn't really date anyone though on my own team, that I'd be sitting next too daily....although after I left that place I messed around with my next-door cube mate who is still a good friend about 10 years later.

This girl definitely wants to go out with you. No question there. The only consideration is whether you want to date somebody you work with, which is not always the best idea. On the other hand, sometimes it works out just fine.
