It doesn't mater what innovations these cars are incorperating.. fact is, a similar price range puts cars in a similar class. Regardless of mechanics and features, if a consumer has $X to spend, they'll be cross shopping cars in $X price range.

I'll remember that the next time I cross shop a Camaro with a Mini Cooper S

It happens. My mom was looking for a 4 door sedan, My grandfather at the time owned a car lot. He said "come down, I've got this really nice Accord here for 8 grand" She went down there, didn't even sit in the Accord because an Infiniti J30t caught her eye. She saw it was in her price range, and drove it home. So are you telling me that an FWD I4 Accord and a RWD V6 sedan can't be cross shopped?

Maybe I'll wait a few years and pick up a HEMI Ram in a while! 😀

Wonder if they'll ever think of putting the Hemi in the Dakota?

?When you have Skylines and Evos, it?s hard to put in a Neon.?
Oh yeah, cause the Evo is such a pretigious car

Please, it's practially an SRT with AWD... And as for putting Skylines and Evos in the same catagory, whoever said that needs some education.

People do though, its just not the EVO we get there, but those special homogolation EVOs in Japan like the EVO (insert your favorite letters here) Tommi Makinen edition. The amount of variations they have there is astounding.

Those EVOs do compare against the GTR, but those EVOs are the same ones that we get here.

Mini Cooper S has 163HP. 100 more horses would make the SRT-4 have 263
Neons are coming off the assembly line putting down 220HP to the wheels. Unless Dodge is pumping out ringers (with that much more HP than advertised, I'm sure they're planning on leaving them like that), then I'd say the 2.4 is putting out ~260HP at the crank (259 if you calculate for 15% drivetrain loss).

Well the John Cooper Works S will spank it. At over 200Hp it'll hang with any of the cars mentioned.

And how much will a John Cooper Works S cost? A bit more than $20k I would say and since dodge already has factory mods to get 300hp and 300ft-lbs of torque out of the srt-4 I think they can come up with something to compete.

Not me, once I decide to sell my current one with all the new Diesels out on the market today I will NEVER touch a gas engine truck again, not enough torque unless you supercharge it and even with boost the mialge is 1/2 of Diesel trucks. Not to mention the longevity of diesel, there is just no comparison anymore... during the days of the detroit and the 7.2's sure... but now with VVT and DI... I wouldn't even look anywhere but the green pump 😉

I dunno man.. I like diesel and all... but I've never owned a V8.. don't you think I have to own at least one? personally I love the sound of a V8 more than anything else in the world..
Think on that for a few years....

What do I want... a bunch of useless noise, or do I want some fuggin serious POWER! 😀 😉

BTW I get more compliments on how quiet and powerful my truck is then anything else 😉
Diesels tend to produce less power than their petrol counterparts. But they do produce more torque.

😀
