that's even easier than the WRX!

Well i still want to see one... :D and i want everyone to see one... at least all of my friends... hahahaha... :p

haha, i don't blame ya! :D
but the WRX should have a good solid half second advantage over the S2000 in the quarter mile... S2000's are only fast way up high in the RPM range.. if you don't drive the piss out of it, you will onl run 15's.

Not in the same situation as in the video - I'd say from a (fast) roll, the S2k would take it. The S2k has the RWD advantage from a stop too...that'd be a tossup IMO

I dunno man, the S2000's powerband is a joke... sure it gets good HP.. but at what.. 9 billion RPM... SRT pulls hard everywhere.

Sorry, I screwed my post up, I meant to say it'd take the WRX on the highway - easily

well then what you're saying is the S2K will hang with the SRT?
I say yes to an extent.. but it will not beat the SRT.

Easy for you to say Mr Blown-5-Oh :p You gotta admit that putting down 220HP to the wheels is respectable from the factory for a 4 banger.

On another note
...
I gotta say though, I think we're nearing the end of the FWD HP races, it's only a matter of time until we need to switch to RWD with small cars like this. Even in cars like the maxima, pushing near 260HP, there's not much more breathing room there. Who's gonna want a FWD 300HP torque-steer monster?

Mom has a '97 Talon EX. The TSI was the AWD Turbo. And yes, it's modeled after the Eclipse.
Wow, your mom drives a sexy car, does she have a phone number I can have??
N O.

I picked the car out for her because she asked me which car is good to buy. I liked it at the time ('96).

bullsh!t.. it's a 2.4L 4 cylinder. it runs a 14 second quarter mile... not fast my ASS.

Yeah, not bad at all for a 4cyl. But it still runs 14s. and 14s isn't that fast. It's not slow, but I wouldn't call it fast, either.

well, it's the fastest car in it's class by FAR... that is fast enough to call it fast... IMHO. with some mods, that car is EASILY in low-mid 13's.

Bah, it's still a friggen rental-class Neon with a phat engine in it. I mean, it wouldn't be so bad if it didn't look like it stepped off the set of Fast and the Furious. I HATE that these companies are adding on all of this tacky bullsh!t huge wings and scoops all over the place...bleh. If they had did a more subtle body kit, I'd be more inclined to like it. The kit on the SVT Focus is perfect. Just enough to differentiate it from a regular Focus, but not so much that it looks like rice.

I'd GLADLY give up one second 0-60 and in 1/4 mile for the superior quality, features, and nimbleness of this for $20,000.

LOL, if Honda competes into that sector, it'll have some high-winding I4 instead of something with some actual grunt.

NFS, you realize how BIG of a jump 1 second is in 0-60? ;) I mean, I love the quality and the (little bit of) prestige the Mini has, but for 20k I'm taking the car with 100 more horses.

Mini Cooper S has 163HP. 100 more horses would make the SRT-4 have 263 :D

It surely isn't 1 second that I'm gonna miss driving to the grocery store, to work, or to school. Sure, it'd matter if I were trying to race some other jackass at a stoplight who has something to prove, but last time I raced someone, I got slapped with a ticket (which I got out of with a Prayer for Judgement). I'm not stupid enough to make that mistake again.

The muscle cars of the 60's and 70's, GTO, Road Runner, Chevelle, etc, were big engined, tarted up versions of low ball midsize sedans.

WRONG! All things being equal, AWD will spank you on quarter mile. On the other hand FWD will beat AWD on highway. AWD will have lot more traction when launching, just look at any 60 trap speeds.

Also Talon = Eclipse. They are identical except for fron and rear bumper covers, side mouldings and some other details. Other than that they are the same exact cars. Im actually in process of turning my 96 talon tsi awd to eclipse gsx :)

Neons are coming off the assembly line putting down 220HP to the wheels. Unless Dodge is pumping out ringers (with that much more HP than advertised, I'm sure they're planning on leaving them like that), then I'd say the 2.4 is putting out ~260HP at the crank (259 if you calculate for 15% drivetrain loss).

Me too.
Hmm hopefully Nissan will bring the next gen Silvia to the US.
