ok, your car is rare. Its a great car, I would love to own one myself. BUT its not anymore rare than the GTO is. Here are the build numbers. For the sake of this discussion, we will include '95-'98 and note start back in '89 when the 240 was 1st imported.
1995 - 25114
1996 - 7334
1997 - 3655
1998 - 2178
Total: 38281
Here are the numbers for the GTO:
2004- 15,728
2005 - 11,069
2006 - 13,999
Total: 40796
Tell me again how rare your car is? The only reason you see them all the time is that they are new. If you were to rewind 8 years, you would see 240's all the **** all over too.
And don't give me the song and dance about how the 240 will clean up after you are through modding the hell out of it. Give me the same money, dollar for dollar and the GTO will hang with you at every corner and through every 1/4. You will bastardize a nice car to make it 'quick'
Most GTO owners love their cars. A hand full will upgrade to a Vette, some already have. Others like it because of the decent handling and the fact it seats 4. Others are simply happy with it. Keep in mind there are 40K of these cars, so the people that want one pretty much have one and the people that don't want it have gotten rid of it or passed.
Just stop with the 240 being the holy ******* grail of auto imports.

1997 and 1998 model year 240sx's were different mostly in cosmetics, but the main thing is the front end. That said you don't see them at all really since only about 5500 were made 10 years ago, back then you didn't see them that often either in SE or LE form....they were priced too high compared to the 300ZX.

Comparing it to a majorly produced car like the GTO is odd. 1995 for the 240sx was an indicator when the next 3 years it sold less than 1/2 of that one year. Thanks for quoting the numbers off my site.

Nice! Is it the same as that Munaro that top gear loves so much?
You should post a new thread about your car instead of continuing to derail this one.

They still just look like Grand Ams to me. I realize they are probably more under the hood, but the whole redesigned GA looks really turn me off.
Thanks, I think I've seen that pic either here or on LS1GTO...Originally posted by: Astaroth33
To the OP: Congrats, and welcome to the club!
2005 GTO
Corsa Sport exhaust and JBA shorty headers. It's quite loud...
My main complaint is that the stereo doesn't seem to have a line-in for my ipod.

Spintech cat-back will be the first-stop for me down the road, eventually some shorty headers as well. Got the list all planned out thanks to LS1GTO, now I just need to resist the temptation
Believe me, performance mods are a long way away. I definitely don't have a true feel for the car yet, haven't even hit 500 miles. Once break-in is over, it will be me+large empty parking lot and a tank full of gas :evil:Originally posted by: iamwiz82

Get to know the car first, because making any modifications. It's better know know exactly how the car will drive before you start changing things. It gives you a point of reference plus it lets you learn it's limits.

How did I play a violin for the Firebird? I've always liked them; I love the body style of 98+ T/A's for sure. I would've bought one but once I realized it wasn't exactly what I wanted in a daily driver, so why would I pay $10-20K for a car that I would definitely need to put lots of work into overall (not that I mind) and still not have what I want?Originally posted by: alkemyst
It's funny you played such a violin for the Firebird then sign a car loan on a GTO and now proclaim it.
Most GTO owners don't like the new GTO...it's just a baby vette.
Instead, I went for a GTO (which I have also always wanted) and love it. Its not perfect, but its defects to me are small and inconsequential.
Were I buying in 2008-2009, I very well might have bought a new Camaro/Firebird/GTO. But I'm not, this is by far the best option to buy right now in almost every category and I am very happy.
So sorry this doesn't measure up on your "rice-meter," but I like it and you can go take the stick up your ass elsewhere.

You're better off with the GTO instead of a T/A you get the IRS![]()
