400hp, but not much top end for some reason. I've run against a couple of LS2 GTOs, and I can walk them pretty easily.

Be careful...remember American Muscle Cars > Any Rice.

GTO is a nice car...but nothing fantastic. It's a pig with a V8. It's a luxury 'muscle' car.

It's competition is more Charger SRT than Corvette.

Your EVO is more car than the STi stock for stock...but the STi only losses to the GTO by a hair 0-60 and 1/4 mile yet spanks it on the slalom and braking. It also almost has equal interior space. When the EVO first came out the STi was better here in the states...I think it was the VIII model at the time. There are a ton of EVO's and STi guys here along with F-Body, Vette, and Mustangs....and of course the Hondas.

400 hp and it's performance is laughable when cars with 100hp less are turning equal times.

It's the old man's performance car here.

Nice Saturn. :disgust:

chicks liked it in school...it was a fun and cheap car, pretty quick when I was done with some easy mods...low 7 sec 0-60 and a 15 sec 1/4...got awesome gas mileage and never broke down. All my cars prior to it would have handed it it's ass though, my 1988 GT I wish I took to the track, like my 1966 I could light my tires up in 3rd gear at above most posted limits.

I bought it for about $10k extremely low miles a couple years old. It was a great car though so many like to clown on it.

I was surprised how many women didn't know it was a Saturn. However this was 7 years ago.

My 97 VW GTI VR6 was regularly parked up front via valet prior to me selling it. I don't have much pictures of it...just my basic for sale shot, but it had sold already prior to updating it. I had that car up to 140+ behind a M3 and Corrado one day on the way to Moroso in the rain. I could take exit ramps at triple digit speeds in it.

Most women around here laugh at guys driving corvettes yet alone guys owning two of them.

I like the vette though...just not guys like you perking up their little members over other cars without qualifying their statements.

My 1966 Mustang GT though got just about any chick young or old. This was back in 1988/89...it was a $40k restoration. I was 17...it was like teen heaven.

Thanks for hitting my site.

Thanks for rolling your eyes at my 'cheaper' cars.

Thank you.

While we're on the topic: how much do you have to put into your car to get to "GTO" level performance? Well from what I'm reading, $5K will easily push me past 500RWHP. And that's just a simple bolt-on supercharger. mmKay thanks.

Re: bolded part --> No fvcking sh!t. Did I walk into this thread proclaiming this car was faster than all hell and nothing could beat me? Did I even promote its performance as anything BUT kick-ass around town and a sh!tload better than all the other <200HP non-sport cars I've owned before this? NO.

Damn right this car is a 'luxury muscle car' and it competes with the Charger not the Vette. It also competes with and destroys the Mustang GT (sorry ZV). It is faster than the Charger (not so much the SRT8, but the SRT8 starts @ $38K); not that the Charger and GTO are even terribly directly comparable (four doors, automatic only, etc). I never said this was the end-all beat-all performance car. Damn right its overweight, 3700lbs+ is a lot; but with 400 ft-lbs torque I'm not lacking as I drive to/from work and around town. This car probably won't see any track, at least not any time soon. I find no joy in drag racing, I may eventually run a little auto-x for my own enjoyment, not to prove anything to anyone with nifty webpage (I do like your webpages, design-wise) about how they changed an air filter on their Saturn SC2.

My intent here wasn't to put down your little I-4 RWD ricer, my intent here was to show off my first ever new car that I love and enjoy like hell; not to compete with overbearing pompous pricks who are so insecure with the size of their own penis they feel the need to jump into my thread with their little "one-day I can go faster than you" dreams. Go back to replaying F&F 1-2-3, okay? mmKay, thanks.

Were I buying in 2008-2009, I very well might have bought a new Camaro/Firebird/GTO. But I'm not, this is by far the best option to buy right now in almost every category and I am very happy.

So sorry this doesn't measure up on your "rice-meter," but I like it and you can go take the stick up your ass elsewhere.

I don't buy rice, sorry. I buy cars I like.

I just find it interesting you have always swore by F-Bodies and now in one fell swoop state a new love.

What's changed? Nothing. I like F-Bodies for what they are, but esp after my gf bought her 92 RS B4C project car I decided I wanted something nicer as a DD. Nothing changed, except when you unzipped and stuck your dinky little e-penis in here.

I LOL'd...however I was replying to TG...

Keep on talking about my Saturn and discount my other cars...that's ok with me. I have no problem with it and don't have to get so pissed off about it.

My penis is ok...I don't pick my cars to find riders. Talking about 400/400 is pretty much talking about your e-wiener though. mmkay? thanks

If you are talking auto-x, you wouldn't be calling a 240sx a ricer...just so you know...most of the best of them would spank the best of your's out there.

take a chill pill dude.

Nice car, looks good with the dual exhaust pipes! I would have gone with the 18's though and gotten a set of winter rims or something. how's the quality holding up so far ? are there any issue you had to get fixed under warranty since buying it ?

I like yelling at dipsh!ts online, its enjoyable for me. No chill pill needed :)

I have no problem with Saturn, my gf had an 01 that was a great car, but I just love jackasses who decide to start sh!t because...they're jealous? They're bored? They need someone to vent their sexual frustration at? Who knows, not me!

Oh I know 240sx's and many other cars are much better for auto-xing; the GTO is an overweight pig and out of the box, handles like....a muscle car. But Mr.-My-Car-Is-Better-Than-Yours doesn't realize he's at least half way to making his car a ricer in definition just by running his mouth...

Lemme guess, you cruise around the block on the weekends in FL too huh?

Yeah I do like how the 18's look better, but I also liked having an absolutely untouched car. Just one of my weird quirks, I know.

Quality is good so far, but only have it a week ;) Getting close to 500 miles, should hit 1000 by the end of next weekend as I'll be doing some travelling.

Someone asked about MPG (perhaps jokingly ;)), its in the OP. Averaged about 16-17MPG first tank with ~30% highway miles (80-90MPH) and the rest stop & go city driving learning to drive the stick. Once it loosens up and I learn to keep my foot off the pedal, should do ~15-18MPG city (maybe 20MPG if I'm lucky) and 25-28MPG highway.

You started it jackass. I just love to finish it :D

wow such pent up rage.

No fart can on my saturn...actually it had a side exit exhaust with just a resonator. The have ripped their clothes off before...but no one believes that crazy talk here. My times like I said weren't impressive, just not that bad either considering this was 7 years ago....Why would you spend money to gain .1 off your 0-60 time though.

Since no one knew Saturn I can it a good thing as their werent people to bash them sight unseen. My wife loves her 2000 SL2...I want her to get something newer with more space. She is FOB Japanese so go figure.

Oh and yes my "Daddy" did pay for all but 3k of it. I was 16 when we started...I was not going to be buying myself a $40k vehicle and at the same time I wasn't going to turn it down either. However, my 1988 was mine and only 2 years old and fully modded (it was an executive's from Lincoln-Mercury actually and beyond mint and just barely outside of 20k miles).

My house I bought and my 1992 GSR in 1995 were also all mine...I was just 24. It wasn't in bohunk country....just a little place called Wellington, FL. I put $40k down on it. My own money.

I was ready to sign papers on a few mid 5 figure vehicles in 2004 actually...decided to go 1988/1989 Turbo Porsche 944 or 1997/1998 240SX.

My brother was driving a 20th AE VW GTI (2000 I think) until about 1 month or so ago...he has been making 6 figures per year a while now. Just picked up a 996 though...used for $30k. With full Aero package that car gets more people stopping and commenting on it than anything I have seen.

You do realize since I have this stuff on a non-private website, I am ok with it right?

I have learned new cars are hardly worth while. This is just my opinion.

No actually down A1A sometimes along the beach...then sometimes out west in cow country to let my ass hang out although I am holding off more on that until I get a garage in case I destroy my car.

I haven't driven in many auto-x's yet...I like going out to test and tunes since it's less prep and time.

Although since my brother is in PCA now, there have been a few events I want to try...I have to work this weekend moving my company to it's new location, but they are having a East Coast Florida trip down to Key Largo coming down from Orlando or more north through Palm Beach, Broward then Dade.

I missed that...$5k could put a 240sx into 11 or 10's in the quarter...with just that souped up SR. It's power to weight really, but they'd be in the 400HP+ range. In handling it will already out perform you stock. I did alot of research to pick my car. However, driver > car in most things...you are just learning to use a manual though....my last manual was that 1966 GT my dad bought me which come still rip tires off in drive.

I am going KA-T though, only about 300-350WHP. low 13's/high 12's on street tires.

alkemyst,

I don't hate Saturns. They are good point A to point B commuter cars. Even with their dirt cheap prices I don't see how it's sensible to make it into something else. For the money put into it you can start off with a car far better then what you'll have with the Saturn. It's apparent you wised up with the Nissan 240SX SE though. It still doesn't make you a smarter man. He said nothing about hating JDMs or even what he's using the car before you started posting. It's hard to believe you're 4 years older than me. I would have guessed the opposite.

Most GTO owners don't like the new GTO...it's just a baby vette.

ok, your car is rare. Its a great car, I would love to own one myself. BUT its not anymore rare than the GTO is. Here are the build numbers. For the sake of this discussion, we will include '95-'98 and note start back in '89 when the 240 was 1st imported.

1995 - 25114
1996 - 7334
1997 - 3655
1998 - 2178

Total: 38281

Here are the numbers for the GTO:
2004- 15,728
2005 - 11,069
2006 - 13,999

Total: 40796

Tell me again how rare your car is? The only reason you see them all the time is that they are new. If you were to rewind 8 years, you would see 240's all the **** all over too.

And don't give me the song and dance about how the 240 will clean up after you are through modding the hell out of it. Give me the same money, dollar for dollar and the GTO will hang with you at every corner and through every 1/4. You will bastardize a nice car to make it 'quick'

Most GTO owners love their cars. A hand full will upgrade to a Vette, some already have. Others like it because of the decent handling and the fact it seats 4. Others are simply happy with it. Keep in mind there are 40K of these cars, so the people that want one pretty much have one and the people that don't want it have gotten rid of it or passed.

Just stop with the 240 being the holy ******* grail of auto imports.

An SC2 was not exactly a commuter car. This is the same thing people say about Hondas (which I hate)...I didn't spend that much on it. Drop a B series engine in a CRX and a few thousand bucks and you are still below the price of most of the competition in the 1/4 mile.

BTW, what is 4 years? That were you have a garage full of BMW's or don't go out on the weekends anymore...I don't get that...or is it you no longer discuss things fun to do?
