So what do you think between it and your WRX?

This car is so much more refined. I really like the chassis on the Lexus, it handles like 9/10ths of a sports car but isn't nearly as harsh. Interior noise is non-existant in the Lexus. They are two completely different cars though and I don't see many people cross shopping this car and an STI.

The Lexus has prestige, performance and class. I think it is definitely one of the best cars in its class. Lexus was extremely easy to deal with too. No pressure at all at the dealer. Man, every car buying experience should be like this. We basically paid msrp but he threw in a $1900 wheel option at no extra charge. We get free loaner cars for life and free roadside assistance.

I think this car > the 3 series BMW by a long shot.

Wow, big statement there Jules. Doesn't the IS250 come in AWD w/automatic? Nice car btw!

It is an option. Most of them are RWD though. The IS250 is offered in a manual but the 6 speed auto gearbox is so efficient you really don't see any benefit to having a true manual. In fact, the auto can shift faster and more efficiently than the stick.

Left the scooby camp eh? Did you check out the Legacy GT before deciding on the Lexus?

Yes, I've driven it. Nice car but not really in the same league.

I've also driven the Acura TL and the Infiniti G35.

For that price, why not a G35? LOL Who am I to nitpick. Great car though. At that price, I would get the IS350, but since you want to save a bit on gas, you made the right decision.

I want to test drive the TL, RL, IS350, 2007 G35.

I think the RL is one of the most sexiest, most intimidating looking cars I've seen on the road. When that thing is coming at you, boy does it look great.

The IS is a great looking car. It is not your typical Lexus. Does it drive sporty in any way? How is the communication between the driver and the car and road conditions? Does it feel like your driving the car or the other way around?

It is very sporty. Great steering feel, excellent chassis and awesome brakes.

The IS350 is more like $37k with the premium package and closer to $40k with NAV. I've driven the IS350 though. It is a hell of a lot of car and very fast. Man, I'd take that over just about any other car in the $40k price range. The IS250 is just a little less powerful and less torquey (sp?) but otherwise identical.

We thought the G35 sedan (had to be a sedan) looked dated by comparison.

I saw an RL on the way back from L.A. today and didn't think it looked all that hot. Too conservative IMO. Edit-They aren't selling well either.

I guess looks are usually based on opinion. Yes, it looks conservative, something that I love. Something that is subtle yet ready to growl.

How was the bodyroll?

As for quiteness in the cabin, that is a given. I don't know, but I like cars that are involving to drive. I need to test drive the IS series soon. Thanks.

The car is very tight. It's obviously not a race car but body roll is minimal. I really need to give it a good hard drive but I'll wait until it's broken in to do that. I've driven my friend's G35 coupe and in comparison it would be a tough call between the IS350 (of course we have the IS250) and the G35. They are very close in performance.

My friend paid $40k for his G35 OTD and it is a coupe so a bit more performance oriented.

I thought that too, then I noticed the cheap fake wood interior that there is no option to get rid of.........too bad they didn't offer that fake wood in carbon fiber or something....can't stand faux wood and it seems like every Toyota has it......

No, we got rid of the STI. I'm back to driving the Maxima.

Hell, I commute to work by bike once or twice a week as it is so I really don't drive all that much anyway. It made more sense to keep the Maxima in case we needed more room and my wife can use Maxima to do open houses on weekend. She can't drive a stick so it didn't make much sense to keep a car she can't drive and get rid of a decent fullsized car that she can drive.

Yes, excellent dealership. I highly recommend them.

Edit-I've heard good things about El Monte Lexus as well. Our neighbor who owns nothing but Lexus raves about them. I'll have to check them out next time.

I think the more accurate phrase would be "everyone and their mom's and their mom's mom" has one.

36k, awesome deal! Man, that was cheaper than the Acura TL we purchased a few months back. Does it come with Navi?

Congrats! :)

Or is that Longo Toyota/Lexus happens to be located in the heart of the Asian enclave in SoCal?

It said El Monte on the plate frame...I'll have to check with her next time. She's purchased 3 Lexus cars from them.
