I had a 97 Dodge Neon, it was a very quick car with the 5 speed. I liked it a lot, had the head gasket replaced, other than that, it was a decent car for a college student.

Yeh it's boring. Yeh it's a Dodge. But for $5k that's not a bad deal considering current gas prices.

The only way you'd score a Camry at that price was a 98'ish with over 120k on the clock.

Some asshole at the auction was trying to grab it so we fought on the price. If he wasnt involved, I would have had it at $4200.

He only did it because you're not white.

Should've held your Race Card up. I hear you have a full deck.

That's a bold faced lie, you know PAB isn't playing with a full deck! :p

My friend has a neon. It's a pile of garbage.

I owned a Neon for 5 years. best car I've ever owned. Zero repairs, good power for it's size, no complaints whatsoever other than resale. I am sorry for everyone that had problems with that car, but I think I spent maybe $300 on the car the entire 5 years I had it on stuff that was not wear and tear (brakes, tires)

I think when taken care of your new car will treat you great for many years.

did your dad rip on you about buying a neon? Maybe you should make another long winding thread about it on ATOT if he did.

So you bought a Neon then post about it here...

Then you decide to sell it simply because of what a few people say about Neons?

C'mon, its not that bad man... for 5k w/ that mileage you should just ride it til it dies at around 100k.

Pre-00 neons are unreliable. 00 and up ain't too bad. I had an 02, and it was a fairly decent ride, and I paid the same amount for it. Good basic transportation, and for 5k, you definietly got at least what you paid for.

I think I did well at 5k.

damn that's cheap.... that being said, statitically neons, cavaliers and sunfires are the deadliest cars on the road.

This is quite true however - the neon, even the new one, is an absolute death trap - has one of the lowest safety ratings of all cars recently built.

You can drop 5K on a car, but can't move out of your parents house. I'm guessing your father bought that for you.

Its a business decision. I buy the car, I make money. I move out, I don't have money to buy the car.

Dad didn't buy ******. I used the suburban money.

Who paid for the suburban?

The manual transmission gives the illusion of quickness.

It's "quick" when compared with its class and price range.

The problem is that it's class and price range aren't associated with "quick".

For what it's worth, I would have someone pay ME for driving around a neon.
