YACT: I bought a neon!

An 03 w/ 57k miles on it for 5k...not bad. It should sip gas and provide at least another 70k miles of fairly uneventful driving.

Yeh it's boring. Yeh it's a Dodge. But for $5k that's not a bad deal considering current gas prices.

The only way you'd score a Camry at that price was a 98'ish with over 120k on the clock.

Some asshole at the auction was trying to grab it so we fought on the price. If he wasnt involved, I would have had it at $4200.

He only did it because you're not white.

Should've held your Race Card up. I hear you have a full deck.

The Dodge Neon - IMO and based on zero scientific fact - is the absolute most unreliable car that was produced at such high volumes in the last 10 years. I'm sure someone will quote a car that lasted a year or two because of massive defects or something, but the Neon is absolutely horrible and still managed to sell like mad. I personally know 6 people that have owned Neons, and all were sold for whatever they could get for them before 100k miles because of the amount of problems they had - and these are just my close friends. The sad part is, it wasn't the same problem. One family I know, 3 daughters, very similar, youngest is 2 years younger than the oldest, all were bought new when the girls were 16. They're all very nice, quiet girls, took good care of them (I know them well), and drove reasonably. The longest-lasting one made it to around 95k before the transmission and a/c went bad at the same time. The other two, combined, had a blown head gasket, leaking power steering rack (had to be replaced or refilled constantly), alternator died, electrical problems... literally, between the three Neons, there were only a few parts that didn't go bad on at least one of the cars.

You did get a good deal, but I hate those cars with a passion. Best of luck.

I'm selling it, I already hit craigslist with it and if that dosen't work I'm going to wholesale it.

Took a little bit out of your childhood piggy bank I take it.

You can drop 5K on a car, but can't move out of your parents house. I'm guessing your father bought that for you.

People need to learn how to take care of their cars. 97 neon, almost 150K, had a blown headgasket taken care of with 50 dollars deductible. I bought a 03, flawless. Sure they might not be great looking but hey...it's a car that got me around in college years.

People here who are jumping on the bandwagon (like everyone complainig about gas prices), seriously, cmon.

Its a business decision. I buy the car, I make money. I move out, I don't have money to buy the car.

Dad didn't buy ******. I used the suburban money.
