Is it true you cant go from regular oil to synthetic? Or what do you have to do to make that safe?

That is NOT true. You can go to mobil 1 from exxon or any other oil and back again. You can even mix them.

Just like with everything else....

There are way too many variables. Way, WAY too many.

What may be right for you may not be right for the person down the street, let alone someone in a different climate zone.

I want to start up a quick lube place that offers oil analysis as a part of the service.

After the first couple of analysis/changes, we would have an oil change regimen for you.

We would setup a maintenance schedule tailored to your specific needs. It wouldn't be any different from a normal quick lube place in that regard, just the intervals would probably be longer on average.

And it would actually care about it's customers engines.

12k miles on M1 regular, oil analysis comes out very good and they suggest 15k. Thicken from 5W30 to 10W40 though, so I think cutting back to 10k is better.

so i ran the van and my saturn for 5000 miles with that
