I've dropped my bike twice, but since it's my only means of transportation it's kinda inevitable.

I hate people who don't know how to ride. 'nuff said

EDIT: Kind of funny. There are 3 other riders in my office and one commented on how he could usually tell another rider through the handshake. Not the casual rider, but one thats been riding for a while, but apparently our wrists feel loose/disconnected.

Plus, it looks like you're on the computer often (use the mouse a lot, lol).

Btw, where in Cali do you live. I can't imagine it worth it to ride here in Southern California with all the traffic, especially in the San Fernando Valley, where I live. Maybe if you lived near beautiful Santa Barbara or by the beach (PCH), or by the canyons (Angeles Crest Highway), then riding a bike would be pretty awesome.

You head up to the sierra nevadas. Foothills are only like half an hour to an hour away.

I grew up in Granada Hills. There are dozens of great canyon and mountain rides only 30-60 minutes away. Beats the hell out of the midwest (where I am now) where the closest good ride is a thousand miles away.

So, what did you do wrong?

Don't know. Cuncussion knocked the memory of the whole day from my head. Best I can come up with is bump/hole upset the bike and I target fixated on a sign I supposedly almost creamed myself against instead of tucking back in the turn. Bike went straight into a ditch, destroyed the front and threw me off. No high-side, no low-side, only thing I can come up with.

Ouch, do you still ride?

No, sold the remains as a project bike about a week ago. I still can't lift my left shoulder as far back as my right, and my right index/middle finger and right wrist can't be flexed all the way without pain. Physical therapist says a few more weeks and I should be almost good as new.

Told myself I'd take a few more months off before I get another one.

I'm curious, did you take any motorcycle safety courses before getting your license? How experienced a rider are you?

Yeah, your bike was definitely totalled. Consider yourself lucky you escaped with the relatively minor injuries you suffered.

BTW-I wouldn't let this put you off motorcycling.

Yes, I took the MSF about three years ago when I got my license. I had 95 fzr and then a 97 yzf600r before the honda.

The crash was on the way back from a jaunt in the local hills in a group where I was the third in a smaller group within the group, if that made sense.

I priced it out and it was about 1300 in parts to rebuild but I didn't have the time. Sold it a week ago for 2k with a clean title and what looked to be a straight frame with some nicks/scratches.

EDIT: This was my second time down. First time was at like a 15mph lowside on the yzf600r with basically no damage to myself or the bike (aside from a broken footpeg).

I do consider myself very lucky. Others said from the path the bike left in the dirt, I missed a sign post by a few feet. Basically if people see teh bike first, then me, they don't believe I was the one riding it (at least within a week or two of the accident).

ive heard on the news 2 19-20 yr olds have died over the past 2 weeks on the same stretch of freeway here on their little crotch rocket bikes...estimated speeds on both fatal wrecks were 110-120 mph.

hopefully they didnt get to reproduce.

One of the kids i go to college with recently bought his first motorcycle about 2 weeks ago.... a zx-14. He is currently riding without even a license. Just crazy.

I'm trying to figure something out. No insurance? You can't get a registration/license plate without insurance.

At any rate, I knew people like that. I feel sorry for them more than anything. The material things they receive are usually a substitute for a real relationship with their parents. Their father is normally gone all the time to make the money for the toys. Aside from that, they usually don't learn the value of money and hard work. Makes it hard later on in life.

FWIW, I think 600cc sport bikes are much easier to ride than big cruisers. They're alot lighter, handle better, stop better, and are more refined. Both styles will go fast enough to get you in a world of trouble. And I felt much more comfortable at 125mph on my brother's Kawi than at 100mph on my Yamaha 1100 cruiser.

No, I go to a private Armenian high school in Canoga Park, on Oakdale and Vanowen. I live at Devonshire and Reseda though, which is like 1-1.5 miles from Granada High. All my out of school friends and neighbors go to Granada, though. It seems good for a public school, but just WAY too crowded. I think there's more than 5000 students there.

I am, any kid thinks sportsbikes are awesome, and when I asked if I can ride one last year, I got the worst look from my mom, lol. I guess my parents made the right choice. You have to be experienced and mature to ride a sportsbike, not having a streetracing-tainted record and a reputation for showing off.

He wears a good (full protection) Shoei helmet, but a loose, XXXL t-shirt and jeans (he's white, but thinks he's a gangsta/wigga).

Btw, I don't understand why anyone would buy a 1000cc bike as a starter... lol. Sure, they're fast, but they're hard even for experienced riders to control.
