It's not that he's spoiled, it's that the dad is a really bad parent. Who would buy their kid something like that when he knows he streetraces very often? He got caught racing with his Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG his dad bought him.

Darwin will take care of this kid soon enough

I think I'd bet some money on the insurance policy.

My guess is yes, and yes.

I was crazy enough as a 25 year old with my first sport bike. I can't even imagine how stupid I would have been in high school. Dang. Hopefully no one else is hurt in the fiery wreck.

Wouldn't the no insurance part screw him over, though?

Or I guess if I want to be more sensitive, he just lowsides it with only fairing damage, gets scared and sells it off for cheap. Otherwise, I don't really care what happens to those types of riders except that they give us a bad name, and sometimes I get harrassed because of it.

EDIT: Oh, hopefully he doesn't hurt anyone else. Don't care about him, but don't take others. Mandatory pictures of my bike and the crash

So, what did you do wrong?

That's the POV of a typical American jackass. It's no wonder the rest of the planet thinks we're a bunch of self absorbed assholes...because it's true.

How is getting money being screwed over?

Buy the insurance policy, buy the bike, put a half empty bottle of grey goose in the garage near the bike. Step 3: profit!

No, what if he gets into an accident and the party being hit sues him for not having insurance? Isn't the dad responsible for not making sure his son is insured?

Why wouldn't dad buy accident insurance? I don't understand.

Don't know. Cuncussion knocked the memory of the whole day from my head. Best I can come up with is bump/hole upset the bike and I target fixated on a sign I supposedly almost creamed myself against instead of tucking back in the turn. Bike went straight into a ditch, destroyed the front and threw me off. No high-side, no low-side, only thing I can come up with.

EDIT: The whole problem with the insurance thing is, if the kid doesn't die but just racks up hospitol bills, isn't the dad going to get stuck with it?

As stated before, he's an uneducated villager that doesn't understand the importance of these things. He thinks that it's just another law he can evade, like taxes...

Rule of thumb: Under 21 and first sport bike = 24 riding hours before he lays it down. It's a given. We told this rule to a guy at my old job and he laughed. Three days later, (6 riding hours) he laid it down. The next summer another guy at work bought a sport bike, same thing. Only took him a week. And he was an experienced rider in his 30's.

BUTCH1... you should get this kids name/address and call dibbs on his liver. :p

Maybe I could pay a "retainer" fee, so I could be first in line!

The only problem is that he might become roadkill before he realizes that he's not experienced enough for a 600cc sportbike. :p Btw, how many R's can you have?
CBR600RR.

No, sold the remains as a project bike about a week ago. I still can't lift my left shoulder as far back as my right, and my right index/middle finger and right wrist can't be flexed all the way without pain. Physical therapist says a few more weeks and I should be almost good as new.

Told myself I'd take a few more months off before I get another one.

Wow, how long ago was this?

Also, I wouldn't get another bike. What if the next crash (inevitable) is worse? My family friend recently got into a motorcycle accident. An 18-wheeler semi truck didn't see him and changed lanes into him, smashing his leg. His right leg was mashed to a pulp. Needless to say, he is now one-legged.

Some people just have the bug. I can't stay off. I still watch other riders while driving my car and wish I coudl be out there.

Accident happened on 3-4-2006. I'm thinking of keeping it on the track for the next bike. You always gotta ride like they're out to kill you on the street.

EDIT: Kind of funny. There are 3 other riders in my office and one commented on how he could usually tell another rider through the handshake. Not the casual rider, but one thats been riding for a while, but apparently our wrists feel loose/disconnected.

You think thats bad, someone I knew got a really expensive car (which exactly escapes me at the moment) for her 16th birthday, it took her 10 days to crash it taking out 4 mailboxes and straight into a streetlight and even worse her parent paid for all the repairs and it took her a little over 3 weeks to crash it once again.

My mom's cowoker, an Iranian, totals a car every two to three months, and she's almost 50. Her insurance company/companies should just drop her. :p
