One of my favorite episodes of the Sopranos was Unidentified Black Males where unidentified black males were blamed for multiple killings, incorrectly.

Unfortunately, in urban areas, blacks are statistically over-represented in violent crimes, one of those facts of life...

Don't take it personally, instead, see yourself as a law abiding example &amp; a role model for the future😀

I for one am tired of the stereotype still held in movies and television, that the leather jacket wearing Hell's Angels biker guy is always the bad guy and is the one that is going to steel the old ladies purse. The truth of the matter is that most Harley riding leather boots wearing bikers are really nothing more than white collar business men 40 hours a week.

Hopefully someday this horrible and hurtful stereotype will be eliminated. :|

Of all of my friends in many different cities across America, 4 have been mugged and 1 was "nearly" mugged (the guy asked him for money nicely, he gave him the last $5 in his wallet, the guy cried and said he wanted to rob him but felt bad), and every time it was by a black guy.

In most ways, I don't see myself as racist. I have black friends, and I don't assume black people I meet are going to rob me. However, I'd be lying if I told you that I wouldn't be more nervous around black people in a subway at night than I would around white people. Why? Is it the media? Is it society? No, it's common sense. Blacks make up far less of the population, and commit far more crime per capita than whites.

You know, I bet even you would be more nervous about a group of black kids robbing you than you would about a group of white kids. Honestly, I think you're lying if you tell me differently.

I don't want to offend and I do not see myself as racist, I just want you to know what I - and I believe most of America - is thinking.

To be honest I think it is similar to everyone saying people in WV are inbred or have missing teeth, or everyone in the south talks with a drawl. Until people stop having these experiences, I don't think anything will change.

I'm gonna guess that most white people don't have contact with many, if any, black people and base their entire opinion of the entire the black population in the U.S. on the media (news, tv, movies, sports, and music).

You can usually tell the difference once you get close enough to smell them.

Yeah like you wouldn't cross the street and avoid eye contact if you came within a 100 yards of them let alone get close enough to smell them. The Gym I go too a few HAMC members that work out there . Aside from them being big dudes and having a lot of tatoos, they for the most part look like anybody else and and have good hygiene. They are also easy going, talk with anybody and seem rather friendly.

I feel bad for you and im sorry that you feel so nervous about being around blacks. Well just know that there are allot of black men out here who are peacful people. In fact many black men are in our service defending our country right now. Many have lost there lives so know that we are all not bad.

My mother's bike was stolen..my dad and I saw some black guys with it.

They left it locked at McDonald's -- there was a GPD officer inside..heh..he called another guy, who happened to be the same guy my dad had talked to the day before (re: the theft). He cut the lock and we took the bike. 😛

I was actually able to get the guy's name (Eckerd's Drugs - he dropped pictures off..heh)..but I doubt anything will happen.

Someone else stole the wheels off my bike a couple of years ago, but I didn't see who it was.

On the other hand, I have more than a couple black friends at work.

I have been mugged 3 times.

1) When I was in 7th grade, gave up $2.

2) Freshman yeat H.S, gave up $10. Got pushed against a hard metal fence, hurt my back.

3) Senior year in H.S. gave up $20 and my brand new cell phone $120. Got hit w/ a metal afro pick which could have been used as a knife.

I am in NYC BTW. They were all black. So I will have to agree with Ilmater, especially in shady neighborhoods. Of course now I carry a knife and wouldn't hesitate to kill a scumbag for $1. The police wanted me to ID another black person for the robbery but I didn't so don't call me a racist.

Halloween, trick&amp;treating. Walk past a group of younger black kids. The oldest of them tried to grab my bag of candy, couldn't get it the first time, pulled harder, and managed to rip the plastic out of my hand as well as a piece of my costume, and he ran as fast as he could leaving his friends/siblings standing there.

No such thing ever happened to me by white kids.

Up until then, and still after, I always give the benefit of the doubt to the black person. But since then I get tense walking past someone on the sidewalk. Must have been a little traumatized by the incident.

To say that all blacks are not criminals does not discount the implication that some blacks, or perhaps even most blacks (sake of arguement) are criminals. What you're trying to reason out, sadly would only be true had I suggested, "EVERY black is not a criminal".

Well I could say umm I hate all white men because for some reason all throughout my life ive only been called a n*#&amp;#$ by them. BUT I DONT beause I love humans despite there incumbant flaws. So I refuse to pass general judgements around like that. I feel the only way this place we call earth will get better is to judge people by who they are not what race they are. Maybe the black community should take a critical look within their community, rather than blame everyone else for their perceptions.

Ask yourself WHY people have these perceptions. Do they have them of Asians? Indians? No.

Until the supposed "black leaders" stop placating their communities by blaming all their ills on racism rather than asking critical questions like, "why do blacks commit an inordinate percentage of crimes," this problem will NEVER go away.

At any rate, these perceptions and fears, no matter how irrational you think they may be will NEVER go away by your community screaming "RACISM" at them.

The worst beating I ever got in my life was by Marines, while I WAS IN THE MARINES. (All for one and one for all?)

Guess what? There were MANY black guys in the Marines as well, but I NEVER had ANY trouble with ANY of them. As far as I know. I did have my wallet taken a few times, but I have no idea who did it. I would suspect another white guy however.
