how so?

I agree, upgrading from x300 to x600 is barely upgrading at all. At least get the x800, more bang for your buck

my card is currently a x800 GTO although its running x800 XT BIOS and Speeds

Another likely cause for your problem. And you (you, not "u") blame Dell...
but y would it run fine for a while and then defect to PCI x1
also there are alot of BIOS modded C3d x800 GTOs out there and mine appears to be the only one with issues.... also has a zalman vf900AlCu since no seems to read sigs

If you know what you're doing, the 5150 deal was solid. I tried to price a comparable system, but couldn't beat Dell's deal. Just popped in an x850xt pe, 2 gigs of RAM, and an old Raptor, and it's solid. No problems yet.

Lol, warranty. Man people can be delusional sometimes. I used to like dell, like in 2000 when they had real tech support. By the time '03 rolled around, I was beginning to hate them and in '05, I comfirmed it, I hate dell, period. Sad to think that they were such a great company, glad to know the stock price has fallen which coencides with the popular opinon of former dell owners.

You don't need a warranty anyways because if you buy the parts retail, they'll all have their own individual warranties anyways so it's win-win. Dell cheapo systems generally have a 1 year warranty which sucks if you think about it because they're OEM parts and you can't get the warranty through the manufacturer, so you're almost always more screwed with getting a prebuilt.

No, that's why you just burn a copy of the 8-in-1 Windows XP CD, and use the license code on the side of your Dell when you install.

I love my Inspiron and my 2005FPW. Only complaint is that sometimes the "mouse" button on the laptop sticks and requires a firm press to unstick it.

i love dell... next day service on virtually any part i need replaced. oh wait... dell business is a little different... heh.

The only thing I would buy from dell is probably a widescreen LCD... i want a ~24" one.. but waiting for them to dip below $300 (i'll be waiting a while...).

Well my SC420 for $300~ was worth the money IMO and I'm satisfied with my 1905FP LCD but other than that I'd never but a Dell as my main system, always build.

You suck. You bought a low end dell FTL.

BTW you can't use other powersupplies in a dell. the pinouts are different (I hope someone already pointed that out...)

I don't get your exact problem. Judging by your absolutely horrible grammar and grommy abbreviations... well I can see why tech support wouldn't want to deal with you.

That and you say yourself that it worked up until you started upgrading it (the x300 to x600 is just awesome hahahha) well that tells me you screwed it up yourself. Then you modify your newest card with a new BIOS and new hsf... well you probably screwed something up. If installing a new video card (a very similar one at that) messed with a ton of files... well you probably should've let someone else handle such a difficult task.

Your friend bought a $300 dell and it wouldn't run Sims 2? Did that genius ever think of looking at the minimum and recommend system requirement for the game before purchasing such a budget system? That makes it Dell's fault that the $300 system is for internet, email, and simple office usage?

I'm no Dell supporter.. but your rant is crap and I don't see what Dell did wrong.

Did anyone actually try to read that entire OP? I gave up halfway through. Jesus Christ, take an English class or something.

That hasn't been true for years for ATX/BTX systems...of course their SFF systems and slim desktops have weird-shaped PSUs, but I believe even those use standard pinouts now.

Yep, I'm thinking PICNIC and PEBCAK here. I have a very low-end Dell and it's been fine to me over the years.

I bought a $500 dell three years ago, then paid $130 to upgrade the graphics card - I can play all the games of the HL2 generation perfectly.
