That a majority of those subscribers joined Sirius around the time that Stern made the jump from terrestrial radio to satellite is a mere coincidence then? But I'm convinced the vast majority of those 2.7 million new subscribers weren't pursuaded one way or the other by Stern's signing.
WTF does "around the time Stern made the jump" mean????
Sirius announced the acquisition of Stern in October of 2004. Stern didn't go on the air until January 2006.
That means there were 15 months between the announcement and Stern actually signing of OTA airwaves. In light of that, the claim that the majority of new subscribers during this time frame were Howard Stern junkies is patently absurd. Why would a Howard Stern junky sign up for Sirius satellite months ahead of time if Howard Stern was the only reason for them to subscribe in the first place??
They gained 2 million subscribers in 15 months-- which as I said earlier is the same growth that XM had a couple years ago.
I would think you would really only start to see the Howard Stern effect by looking at the number of new subs in first quarter of 2006, and the last month or two of 2005-- not the entire freaking 15 month period preceeding all of this.
I ordered Sirius just to get Stern...I know of or convinced at least 5 other people to do the same.
That may well be true... but 6 subscribers <<<< 2 million <<<<<<< 10 million.
i.e. you've proved nothing
