I think a lot of people are going to "cheat" and run there xobxes through a router connected by modem. People are doing that with Socom on the PS2 and screwing everything up.

well i think that xbox live was right to be broadband only (even though im not broadband) because only a few ps2 onlne games are dial up and that adapter is probably mainly for web browsing not gaming (the dial up half) and will soon be to slow for newer games

Hell, where I live you can't even get faster then a 28.8k connection.

Therefore, X-Box Live will be nice for the types of people who read these boards, but, for the masses it wont do anything for them.

55% of all X-Box owners have broadband dumbfvck.

to the guy who cant get dsl. you can always get direcpc or direcway satalite broadband.

you can't game with those so thats a moot point.

Maybe Xbox Live still be the "killer app" the broadband industry has been praying for. If the games are good for it then its very likely to happen.

<<lets compare the graphics too brute force to socom navy seals, hmm i wonder who will win? the ps2's graphics were maxed out the day it was released while the xbox has a programmable gpu and new effects are being created everyday. from all of this y dont u decide what is better. i see the tables turning in favor of the xbox and the ps2 will be left in the dust.>>

Hm... who's leaving who in the dust?? PS2 has sold close to 50 million. XBox may dream of that figure in 5 years. The truth is, real console gamers will take a console with graphics that look 80% as good and take with them a better much better game selection over a console that largely rely on PC ports that play better and look even better on PC.

We'll see. 😀

Considering how much Market share Microsoft has gained in this industry of consoles I'd say XBOX is doing pretty well at stealing GC and PS2 thunder. 😉

economically it was a failure they making huge losses on each unit.
In Europe it was way to expensive when it came out and didnt pick up any market share until the price drop and even now it is still more expensive than in the states and than GC. So I would say Xbox has lost the game - at least here

btw the s controllers are not available in europe either - so I heard

3 of my friends have Xbox's now and all are pretty dissatisfied with them. Everyone can tout the abilities of the Xbox but until they make games that appeal to the MASSES, not a bunch of dudes on a message board(me included🙂 it's gonna suck. I thought about picking up my friends Box so I could have the Tri-fecta but I really dont see anything that appeals to ME except a game that costs $200.00(the Mech one) not gonna happen... I also notice that when I go shopping for games a lot of salesmen in the major chains(CC, Wal-Mart, Sears) tend to push PS2, that could directly affect sales when a Parent goes in to buy little Tony a gaming rig not knowing sh!t about processor speed and HD's.

FreAk😀

I read that article a few days ago and the guy is wrong on almost every point. Also, it has a bunch of half truths in it. Either the guy a really misinformed or just a typical "I hate MS because they are sucessful and have billions of dollars" crybaby. Without reasonable doubt, he is just one of those MS haters.

I'm still stuck on Dreamcast. I'm not going the PS2 route until I finish all these DC RPGs.
You do know the Xbox is outsold weekly by the PS1 (yes PS ONE) in Japan? You also know that without Japanese developer support it will be extremely hard to keep a console alive, even for someone with Microsoft's money. Ever wonder why the Xbox is littered with PC ports? Besides Sega, Japan hardly wants to touch it.
Japan is a very xenophobic country. They are loyal to their own stuff and hardly ever except inported things. The Xbox doesn't have many PC ports like PS2 fanboys like yourself would like everybody to believe so stop posting this garbage. In fact, not many people in Japan even buy PCs. Oh no, I guess the PC is a failure too then.

Well put.

<<Japan is a very xenophobic country. They are loyal to their own stuff and hardly ever except inported things.>>

Wrong. If you truly know a thing and two about modern Japan, you'd know they're a USA kissup, a liberal and foreign embracing country with customs and values tucked into it. They're loyal to their stuff simply because no one in the world produces better electronics than they do. It's not hard to find people around the world that are loyal to Japanese merchandise. Your point is moot.

It's got more PC ports than any console in the history of video games. And MS is advertising these ports as their flagship titles that will carry XBox.

<<In fact, not many people in Japan even buy PCs. Oh no, I guess the PC is a failure too then.>>

PC has failed to be a gaming platform in Japan, but it is one of the largest PC-using countries the world because it's huge in the areas of content creation, art design, and business. Are you suggesting one of the world's top economies operate on PS2s? LOL, try again.
