XBOX 360 HD-DVD Player $159.99 AC @ CC in store YMMV

Best deal going for the XBOX 360 HD-DVD Player, using a $40 off $199 printable coupon at IN-Store Circuit City Stores. I live in L.A and the only store that had them within 20-30 miles from me was at Culver City, CA (which had 6 in stock around 1pm)

Final price before tax was $159.99 using the coupon. Search at the other site for that.

I'm expecting the prices to go down with the arrivals of PS3 and Wii. Microsoft has already vowed that they wouldn't drop prices on their Xbox 360, and I think to make good with that promise, they'll either be doing a bundle package with their HD DVD or reducing the price altogether on their HD-DVD units.

I could be wrong, but I'd save my coupons till black friday/christmas.

Great Deal OP. My CCity had 3 in stock this evening. Picked it up for the 360 I should be getting here in about a week or so(as soon as my ps3 comes in from ebgames so i can deliver it to its buyer). I figure the profit I made from the ps3 sale netted me a wii, xbox 360, westinghouse 32 lcd, and almost covered the onkyo htib i got. 🙂

ps-thread crapping = gay!!! do us a favor and /quit life. 😛 it will be one less person i have to deal with on black friday. 🙂

Looks great. How does the image quality of the X360 HD-DVD player compare to Toshiba standalone units?
The huge thread over at avsforum indicates the 360 add-on is very much equal in PQ to the standalone units (namely the Toshiba). People are ecstatic over this add-on at it's $200 price point. Many are considering selling their Toshiba units.

Well considering there wasn't a stick to begin with.... 😱) But to reiterate(sp) the orginal post I made... /quitlife or alt+f4 and make life easier on those looking for a good deal. When your abilities to tell the future have some fact to back them up, maybe people wouldn't consider you a thread crapper. 🙂

nice deal...

and from what i've read there are drivers going around that allow you to use this on your pc and play hddvd through windvd8

When you say printable in store. Are you meaning that this can be printed in the CC store or it was emailed and you printed it and you used it in store?

Few left at Union Square CC in NYC. Don't bother in the regular checkout, the coupon doesnt scan, etc...go straight to customer care.
Drive includes Kong and Remote.

Thx for the coupon and heads up...!

Heads up for anyone in L.A

Woodland hills/Hollywood/Burbank CC's stores has them in stock.. good luck 🙂

Most associates should know how to enter the coupon even tho it wont scan... they can key it in... but some might not be the brightest.

Might wouldn't scan and when they entered it in, it threw an error when they tried to do checkout. Manager came over and just knocked $40 off the price for me and I was out the door. There were about 5 left at the W.Broad store in Richmond, VA.

Are there any movies released yet with HDDVD? I've seen blu-ray but haven't noticed hddvd.

More than there are Bluray, I think, including a lot of hits and recent films (Last Samurai, Serenity...).

Do you need other Xbox components to make this work or will this work directly with a plasma HDTV?

You need an Xbox 360 connected by either component or VGA cables (though it will also work with a sufficiently-powerful PC and apprpriate drivers). The Xbox or PC is actually decompressing the HD-DVD in software, so it requires quite a fair amount of horsepower.

I bought a pair of the HD-DVD drives at Beast Buy on Sunday, but haven't opened them yet. Now I see that CC has this deal, but where are the coupons from? Some at FW are saying that some stores aren't accepting printed coupons, so did this come from a newspaper ad or what?

i heard that the xbox360 doesn't do 1080p native. Instead, it upscales. I'm one of the few with a 1080p t.v. set. I Guess i should pass on this, and wait for my sony ps3 blu-ray with native 1080p...
