A *huge* investment ... many thousands of dollars

yet you play then on a decent rig with an ancient $35 GPU that can *barely* run the latest of your games

makes sense to no one but you

All I know is that I'm really enjoying my DX9 Sm3.0 X1950PRO and Oblivion. (I may have to uninstall it until after my flight is over, so I can get some work done, as that game is damn addictive :p ) It looks great at 12x10 with AA & HDR.

If the X1950XT AGP had been available just 3 months ago I would have gotten that instead as some games are still GPU bound at 12x10 (FEAR & Oblivion).

can you imagine still having your old 9800p because you wanted to *wait* for something better ... all the *while* spending thousands of dollars on games and the OTHER upgrades for your rig?

heck, the 7800GS is $129 after MIR at Frys and that $85 net upgrade *would* allow real enjoyment - with good graphical detail - on the latest games instead of 'low'. :p

is that really saving? :p

i skipped 3 new games to buy my x1950p ;)

I know. I purposely waited to play FEAR & Oblivion until I got the X1950PRO so I could enjoy them. I caught up on older games that my 9600XT could handle until now. So now turned out to be the right time to upgrade for me.

I really can't see waiting any longer like Geo is suggesting for a midrange card that won't perform any better than an X1950 does today.

Yeah, and for 17 bucks less you can get a DX10 card that is quite a bit faster. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133193

Yeah, I know.. it's AGP and some people are happy to pay more for less as long as they don't have to completely upgrade. I used to think that too.

I think bang for buck a simple 269.00$ video card upgrade vs. A motherboard, ram, and video card upgrade is better. Don't forget the upgrade you made 6 months ago was much more exspensive. I'll take a guess motherboard....200.00$, ram at least 250.00$ and card like this one a 1950xtx 350.00$ Thats 700.00$ Who's the sucker? What games are duel core or direct x 10 now? NONE!

Edit: If your gonna thread crap ..Crap somewhere else!
You're not exactly happy despite your username.

OK, my motherboard cost $130, my RAM $122, and my 7900GS was $127. Not quite $700 so I guess you're the sucker. :p

Granted, my 7900GS isn't as fast as an x1950xt but then again I didn't pay $269 for it and I've had it since last October. ;) There is a time-value to things so if you insist on waiting until you can pick up stuff at 1/10th of it's original price then you will never have a modern system which is ok too... not everyone can be happy.

P.S. Don't ever tell me where I can and can't post again, noob.

I don't see why the desesperation to get a DX10 card? There's currently no pure DX10 tittle, and by the time that DX10 will be fully utilized, the 800GTX or the R600 will not have the performance to run it properly. When DX9 came first, I was one of the first buying a Radeon 9700 which I flashed to 9700PRO, nice and fastest card on the planet, what happened later? When DX9 was fully utilized (2004 and above) It didn't have the power to run on high quality and FSAA. There's a refrain that says "Never buy 1.0 versions". I learned from it and that's why I bough this X800XT card which I flashed to PE, I'm still able to play all games on max quality and 4XFSAA on 1280x1024 or 1024x768 and those users who wanted the latest on SM3.0 technology like the 6800 Ultra they got left in dust cause it has a bad SM3.0 implementation and often runs far behind in newer games against my "obsolete" card. What we need now is performance, and the 8800GTX and R600 will have it. This should be the reason to buy this card and not thinking about the feature set, cause soon or later something better will come and these cards will trail far behind like the 9700PRO did when the heavy DX9 came out. You just have to be happy about what you buy and that's it.
